Five people, several of them children, were stabbed to death Saturday night in Brooklyn and a man was in custody in the savage killings, officials and sources said.
The victims are a 20-year-old woman, two girls aged 9 and 6, and two boys aged 8 and 18 months.
“It’s looking like a domestic violence case,” the source said

Police identified the victims as 1-year-old William Zhuo, a 5-year-old Kevin Zhuo, a 7-year-old Amy Zhuo, 9-year-old Linda Zhuo and 37-year-old Qiao Zhen Li.

Just a quick update. This story has Qiao Zhen as being 37. What a horrific story. Prayers for the victims and family.

Not really a domestic in the traditional sense, but a cousin who was jealous of that family's success. Unbelievable.

I think he was bit more than just jealous.

I have to wonder what his medical history is - and how many people messed up so that this obviously highly unstable person was free and capable of this.

I cannot even think of what the poor father of the family is feeling, it's too sad. What a devastating loss.

Combined with a severe psychotic episode and you have a recipe for a violent blood bath.

These stories make me feel sick in my stomach, this particular story brings me back to the Krim family who lost their 2 children after their Nanny alleagedly stabbed them to death in NYC, eerily, almost on the same date last year.

A mother-of-four who was stabbed-to-death alongside her children on Saturday night had repeatedly called family members to warn that her husband's jealous cousin was out of control but by the time anyone came to check on her, it was too late.

Growing increasingly concerned by Mingdong Chen's behavior, Qiao Zhen Li, 37, tried desperately to get hold of her husband, who wasn't home, but couldn't reach him.

She then called her mother-in-law in China who reached out to her daughter in the same Brooklyn, New York, neighborhood of Sunset Park, asking her and her husband to drop by the house.

'She told him to go home,' Yang told the New York Daily News. 'The guy is very poor. He had no home. He had no place to live when he came to New York. She told him, "You just leave my house."'

I think saying he was "just jealous" is a way for the family to deny there was a mental illness problem. Sadly it seemed the situation was escalating out of control and the mother didn't know what to do about it, instead of calling the authorities or taking her kids and running she kept trying to call her husband's family members to deal with the situation.

A Brooklyn judge ordered Mingdong Chen Thursday to undergo a second psych exam after a psychiatrist who tried to explore an insanity defense found him to be in “a catatonic state.”

Chen, 27, has admitted to butchering Qiao Zhen Li and her kids in October 2013. Early last year, he was found incompetent but then declared fit after two months on medication. Now, he apparently relapsed, according to his defense lawyer.
