"The middle child of working class, immigrant parents, Christine Ziomkiewicz built a comfortable and promising life by the time she reached her mid 20s.

A bachelor of science degree from Brock University helped her land a respectable job as a research technician in the lab of Queen's University physiologist Seon Shin.

After a year working there, she saved enough for her own apartment, a tidy basement unit at the corner of Park and Regent streets, just a block from Princess Street.

After a year on Park Street, Christine had saved enough for new furniture, a new stereo and her prized possession, a shiny, red 1978 Honda Civic.

Despite her independence, she remained close to her mother and father. She was at their Gibson Avenue home for special occasions and holidays.

On Father's Day weekend, the dutiful, 27-year-old daughter baked a cake for her dad, Stefan.

A few days later, on Thursday night, she went to a Burton Cummings concert at Queen's with a girlfriend.

Life seemed good.

The next day, Friday, June 23, 1978, Christine stopped at the Dominion grocery store and then at the Kingston Centre after work. She made it back

to her flat-roofed, 16-unit apartment building at 200 Park St. by 5 p. m. A bag of groceries tucked under her arm, she chatted briefly with a

neighbour at her apartment doorway. When the conversation ended, she went inside.

No one has seen her since"

KINGSTON - In June, it will be 35 years since Christine Ziomkiewicz vanished from her Park Street apartment.

Ziomkiewicz, 27, worked as a research technician at Queen’s University — a job she secured after graduating from Brock University with a bachelor of science degree.

On Friday, June 23, 1978, Ziomkiewicz went to work. Afterwards, she stopped at the grocery store and then at the Kingston Shopping Centre. Back at her apartment at the corner of Park and Regent streets, she parked her red 1978 Honda Civic and went inside.

Before entering her tiny basement apartment, Ziomkiewicz chatted briefly with a neighbour.

No one has seen or heard from her since.

On June 27, her parents reported Ziomkiewicz missing.

During their investigation, police collected little evidence that would explain Ziomkiewicz’s disappearance.

Her car was parked at the apartment. There were no signs of a struggle or break-in.

The only thing missing was her brown leather purse.

Investigators believe Ziom*kiewicz may have left her apartment with a man — although it is uncertain whether police ever confirmed his existence.

Through their own investigation, Ziomkiewicz’s family later determined their daughter had began dating someone six to eight weeks before she disappeared.

His identity, however, is not known``

"Circumstances of Disappearance
On June 23, 1978, Christine Ziomkiewicz disappeared from her Park Street home and has not been seen or heard from since. Christine had a Bachelor of Science degree from Brock University. At the time of her disappearance she worked as a research technician in the lab of Queen's University.

June 23rd was a regular workday for Christine Ziomkiewicz. She was at the lab in Abramsky Hall early that morning. After work that day, it appears Christine went directly to the Kingston Centre where she shopped for groceries, then drove to her Park Street apartment. By 19.00 she made it back to her apartment building at 200 Park Street where she lived in a basement apartment. A bag of groceries tucked under her arm, she chatted briefly with a neighbor at her apartment doorway. When the conversation ended, she went inside. No one has seen her since.

Christine's parents called police on June 27, to report her missing. Her vehicle was still in the building’s parking lot and there was nothing to indicate she had left intentionally for any length of time. When police searched Christine's apartment, they did not find anything suspicious. There were no signs of a struggle, no sign she was planning to leave the city and no indications that she was troubled. The only thing missing was her envelope-style, brown leather purse.

Christine is described as conscientious, quiet, pretty, outgoing, reliable and socially active. She dated, but there was never any suggestion that she took risks. She was not known to be in a relationship at the time of her disappearance.

A year after Christine disappeared, her parents revealed publicly that a private investigator they had hired concluded that she had met a new boyfriend in the six to eight weeks before she vanished. It’s said she called the man several times daily, most regularly at 10.00 each day. Those calls extended through most of May and June. No one knew the man's identity. The private investigator concluded that Christine left her apartment on June 23rd with the man. However this can not be verified.

Foul play is suspected."

http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?120092-Canada-Bowmanville-Ont-WhtFem-90UFON-18-30-near-freeway-Oct-06 There are only sparse details available for this Jane Doe as her remains were partial, but I think there is a good chance this could be Christine. Her skull and apparently some hand bone fragments were all that could be recovered, likely due to the passage of time. It was estimated that the bones had been at the site for a number of years prior to their discovery, potentially as many as 10-25 at the maximum end of the range. That would very roughly put her death sometime between 1980 and 1996. 1978 is only slightly above the max approximation of the likely time frame. The one item that is really striking to me that they both have in common just seems too unlikely to be a rather remarkable coincidence otherwise: Christine is known to have had plastic surgery preformed on her nose. It was noted after this UID's skull was examined that a distinguishing feature present was that she is believed to have had a rhinoplasty during her lifetime; most likely preformed for cosmetic reasons, because she had broken her nose and it had to be surgically repaired, or possibly a combination of the two. Thoughts?.....

Does anyone know if there any other pictures of Christine available? I've only been able to find the one on here.

I ask because this one is at a bit of an odd angle which might make it difficult to use comparison-wise.

Did you submit this for a match?

Looked high and low but could not find any other pics of Christine.

Think there's enough to? I've never submitted one before.

I just noticed something that I think needs to be posted. When you go look up directions from Kingston, Ontario to Bowmanville, Ontario they are roughly only about 120 miles/200 kilometers apart and is basically a straight line on ON-401 West. The estimated driving time would make a two hour trip one way. The Darlington Nuclear Power Plant and the wooded area surrounding it were the Bowmanville Jane Doe's skull was discovered is right off that same highway. Link to a picture of where the remains were found:http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/images/90UFON4.jpg

Submitted Christine as a potential match for Bowmanville Jane Doe.

Just a theory could the person who spoke to her by her apt could that person have anything to do with her dissaperance too weird

Welcome to Ws. 3490PI!

Have an update on the possible match: it was submitted to Ontario authorities via Doe Network in January after they evaluated it and thought there could be something to it as well.

Bumping for Christine, you haven't been forgotten.

A screenshot of a map from Kingston, ON to Bowmanville, ON. 195 kilometers is about 120 miles, not that far away really. Kingston to Bowmanville.jpg
