Date: June 25, 1998.
Summary: Gloria, of Fayetteville, was vacationing with family when she was last seen in waist-deep water in the Kings Lynn Drive area of Oak Island. Since her body was never recovered, officials also worked under the possibility she may have been kidnapped.

Still no leads in case of missing 8 year old

Police still have no information about the disappearance of an 8-year-old Fayetteville girl missing from Long Beach since June 25.

Gloria Kim Smith was last seen wading in waist-deep water. Since her body has never surfaced, authorities have said she may have been kidnapped.

Theories Pondered About Missing Girl

The 8 year old girl disappeared June 25 from the west end of Oak Island. Authorities don't know whether she drowned, was kidnapped or ran away.

Gloria's father's name is Lloyd Smith, her mothers name is Terry Smith, and they owned Terry's Diner (presumably in Fayetteville). It seems she was adopted from Korea.
