Chris Coleman "is asking for his convictions to be tossed on claims that decisions by the trial judge prejudiced jurors against him.

An attorney for Christopher Coleman argues in a petition with the Mount Vernon-based 5th District Appellate Court that jurors were wrongly allowed to see videos and photographs of Coleman and his lover.

Coleman's appeal also argues that prosecutors didn't sufficiently prove their case."

Additionally -

Brad Coleman is applying for a disability award for post-traumatic stress disorder.

"The Belleville News-Democrat reports the Menard Correctional Center guard, Brad Coleman, claims worrying about his brother, Christopher Coleman, caused his PTSD."

I wouldn't know where to begin commenting on these stories.... :banghead:

That's just silly IMO. Every jury in the US is going to be prejudiced against him once they see the evidence.

Heck if worrying gives you PTSDs... then the entire world would have it.

I know in interviews, his family have said they believe Chris is innocent. They have no doubt. I can't help but wonder if they really feel this way, or just want him to have his freedom back. In the beginning, I couldn't imagine he was guilty, but after seeing the evidence, it was obvious to me he did it. I've never had to deal with something like this (thank goodness) so I don't know how I'd react, but I *think* I'd be first in line to demand justice for my grandchildren.

Then there are the videos they feel the jury shouldn't have been allowed to see. Good heavens! Did this not tell them anything about the true nature of Chris?

All a moot point, I'm sure - I doubt there's any chance of this case getting a new trial.

The affair was the motive for the murders, period. How would the prosecution prove the relationship with Tara other than showing the video's & photographs?

The way his parents continue to conduct themselves surprises me. Surely as a Pastor, his Father understands the concept of "sin nature", why would Chris be exempt from that?

Exactly. Apparently, from reading about Chris on WS, he has never had to take responsibility for his own behavior..... Until now. :snooty:

And Mama and Daddy couldn't get him out of this one.

I think they believed he would be found not guilty.

I wonder if any Chester locals could give any info about local sentiments on this?

An Illinois appeals court has upheld Christopher Coleman's first-degree murder convictions in the 2009 strangling deaths of his wife and their two young sons, ruling the circumstantial evidence was "overwhelming"...

In scuttling Coleman's push for a new trial, Justice Richard Goldenhersh wrote, "We believe that no error a combination thereof was so grave that it infected the fundamental fairness of the trial," and that prosecutors "presented sufficient evidence" for a conviction.

Looks like Chris has lost some weight.
Monster. His beautiful wife and boys. His own babies. There is no doubt in my mind that he committed this atrocity. Tons of evidence and he was sloppy ---which was a good thing.
He's right where he should be.
The pictures and videos show what kind of person he was ; and my opinion is that his family is in denial.

Thank god no one in my family has done anything like this ; but if the worst happened , you can bet I wouldn't be supporting them in any way, shape or form.

:moo:

Now, nearly seven years after his conviction, Christopher Coleman is hoping for a return to the Monroe County Courthouse and a new trial.

At issue in a petition for post-conviction relief filed Tuesday afternoon are photographs of Coleman with his mistress and whether jurors viewed that evidence as directed during their deliberation, which ultimately resulted in a guilty verdict.

Coleman's attorney said Thursday that he believed Coleman is innocent and plans to ask a judge to hear evidence and testimony supporting his request for a new trial. The request is based on four uncensored naked pictures of Coleman and his lover that his lawyer argues jurors shouldn’t have seen. He says without them Coleman wouldn’t have been convicted.

The prosecution is now reviewing the claims.

A hearing is likely months away.

Coleman will remain in prison.

Additional to this --

Snipped:

Coleman talked to Crime Watch Daily by phone from prison.

“Actually, what never came out in court is I had two laptops and I traveled with one and I left the other one either at home or at the office,” he said. “They were never both on me at the same time and the one that was connected to the threats was the one that I would leave either at home or at work.”

Coleman said his defense lawyers didn’t point out that six other people used the laptop.

Chris Coleman is guilty. I'm trying to remember if there was any direct evidence, I think it was mostly circumstantial. But a very strong case was presented. If he was granted a retrial, I don't feel the photos would make or break the case. I feel for Sheri's family, eight years later ...

Wonder how Joyce feels about this being dredged up again?
