Argument over loud music led to teen's fatal shooting, cops say (orlandosentinel.com)
A Brevard County man was in jail Monday, accused of shooting a teenager dead in an argument over loud music.

Michael David Dunn, 45, and his girlfriend were in Jacksonville Friday for Dunn's son's wedding when they stopped at a convenience store, Jacksonville sheriff's Lt. Rob Schoonover said.

Jordan Russell Davis, 17, and several other teenagers were sitting in a sport utility vehicle in the parking lot when Dunn pulled up next to them in a car and asked them to turn down their music, Schoonover said.

Jordan and Dunn exchanged words, and Dunn pulled a gun and shot eight or nine times, striking Jordan twice, Schoonover said. Jordan was sitting in the back seat. No one else was hurt.

Dunn's attorney Monday said her client acted responsibly and in self-defense. She did not elaborate.

I'm disheartened by demonstrators chanting "No justice, no peace". Violence solves nothing. #DunnTrial

the tone the chant is being delivered and some tension that has been seen the last few days influences the perception.

indeed, but the tone it's being chanted in and other rumblings around here are creating some tension

I am here, but have gotten no word on developments since the 9:40ish jury question.

Yes because what is justice? What the mob says? No it's the process of a fair trial which is what is happening.

We've now seen about three hours go by since jury q on self-defense/justifiable force was answered, w/ no word from jurors since #DunnTrial

I read where security has been heightened around the courthouse and the JSO has made preparations for possible rioting. I noticed the gentleman in plain clothes in the courtroom this AM, making sure the members of the Davis family were safely escorted out of the courtroom.

I really hope there is no violence regardless of outcome. It serves no purpose at all. JMO

I'm glad they're protesting. Loudly. And that people are uncomfortable.

"No justice, no peace" is not a threat of violence. "No peace" means no peace for the consciences of those complacent folks who allow these things to happen in their communities. It's a wake up call, and a message that these injustices will not be taken in stride. That the community that allows it to happen will not be allowed to simply brush it under the rug anymore. :twocents:

I've got to leave at 1:00 pm to pick up grandchildren ages 13,12,11 and 11 so needless to say I will not be able to sit and watch for verdict today. They will be spending the night too. I will however try to check in as much as possible. I was really hoping that when I turned tv on this morning, a verdict reached banner would be running across bottom of screen. Anyway, maybe my absence will invigorate the jury into action, LOL. I'm actually hoping for a hung jury if the jury can't vote for quilty on M1, M2 or Manslaughter.

I am recalling MD's letter to gramma where he reminds her of how his friends have described him as being one of those people who can fall in a pile of poo and always come up smelling like roses.

To have that rep with his friends suggests to me that MD was known for getting himself into bad situations and has never suffered consequences. The fact that MD finds this a good quality in himself or feels it is something to brag to his gramma about is very telling to me. It makes me tend to think the neighbors descriptions of MD given to the Davis attorney is dead on.

Yes, and if he gets off for this, it'll be another case of a spoiled little sociopath literally getting away with murder, IMO.

Is it truly fair?

I don't believe so.

Arguably, the system is stacked against defendants and victims of color. Can a fair trial ever be had, really?

Just something to consider from the side of "the mob" (kind of a loaded term, IMO).

<blockquotes>RR spoke about it in her testimony. About the 20 minute mark in this vid.

It was also mentioned by a customer in the Gate video (sorry, don't have that link handy). </blockquotes>

Glad you found this, and what Linda said, if Dunn was in fear for his life you don't roll down window and engage and you turn to police that were clearly seen. This man is guilty as sin.

Please, jury, let you come to a just decision after lunch.

Have fun with the grandchildren. I have only one, Derek and he is about to turn 5 in March. :loveyou: I may have to be absent a while too as I only got 4 hours of sleep last night, woke up running at 8am (central time) to the computer to check for a verdict. Been falling asleep on the keyboard in between posts so a quick nap is in order... and possibly HLN will be on so I can record in case of a verdict.
