34-year-old Michael Coyle jumped from the home to save himself from the flames. Coyle remains hospitalized at St. Mary’s Burn Center – after suffering burns over 90% of his body. He is unable to tell investigators what occurred the night of the fire as a result of his medical condition. He is said to be in grave condition — and officials are now calling this fire “suspicious.”
After investigators identified the victim in this fire – FOX6 News learned that Coyle is accused on a separate case of putting a pen camera in the bathroom of a swimming school in Waukesha, where he was a part-time instructor. He has been charged with two felony counts of “Capturing an Image of Nudity.” He is set to be sentenced in that case on March 19th.

The search warrant says several items were seized from the residence as part of the investigation, including various fire damaged clothing, laundry room flooring, various electronics (including two laptops, a PlayStation 3, a Nook, a cell phone, a bed sheet swatch with blood, thumb drives, an empty cell phone box and blood swabs from various areas within the house.
This is rather frightening to me.

WAUKESHA - A part-time swim instructor is accused of setting up a hidden camera and capturing images of his teenage coworkers in a changing room.
34-year-old Michael Coyle appeared in Waukesha County Intake Court Friday*in an orange jail jumpsuit. His mother looked on, taking notes, as the attorneys in the room spoke. Coyle did not speak, and his mother refused to comment afterward.
*
Waukesha police say they were notified by Coyle's wife who told them she discovered videos when she was going through her husband's belongings.
*
One of the girls on the tape is 16 years old, the other is 18 years old.
*
"You know, 16 year olds, 18 year olds are right in that range where you go, ok, is he looking at somebody younger or is there more going on here and we need to dig and keep finding out?" questioned Captain Ron Oremus with the Waukesha Police Department.
*
For the last eight years, Coyle has taught children, ages eight to ten, how to swim at Swimtastic school in Waukesha. *He is a full time engineer at a company, also in Waukesha. He lives and has family in Waukesha, and was deemed a low flight risk, so his bond was ordered at $2,000 cash; which he expected to post*Friday*afternoon.

The most probable explanation is that someone beat the snot out of him and torched his home with him in it as a result of these other accusations he is facing.

I could see that as well. The article said they would run tests to see if the blood was his or not. Hopefully they'll release the results.

According to the complaint, Coyle and his wife were having marital problems because the wife was tired of him using drugs.

Was Coyle still married at time of Feb 14, 2014 fire?
From reading all the linked articles, I cannot tell.

Per post #2, nanwv's link to 620wtmj link dated Oct 5, 2013
wife notified LE of existence of secret camera & images,
"when she was going through his belongings."
So married then, if accurately reported.

Per post #6 wolfdancer, wisn link, also Oct 5
"According to the complaint, Coyle and his wife were having marital problems because the wife was tired of him using drugs."

Was the marital prob referenced in --
criminal complaint re hidden camera/secret pix?
or
-divorce petition/complaint, if there was one then pending?

Understandable that there were marital probs,
if Coyle was using drugs and taking secret pix of 16 & 18 y/o girls.

Were both he & wife living in same home where fire occurred?

This Feb 18 article says officials called fire "suspicious"
http://fox6now.com/2014/02/18/search-warrants-in-wauk-fire-say-blood-splattered-throughout-home/ but I've not seen LE stmt -
- discussing signs of suicide,
- clearing the wife of suspicion,
- vigilante attack by photographed girls or their parents, or gen pub,
- criminal activity such as burglary gone bad, w fire as unintended result.

Anyone know about marital status? Where living? Just wondering.

Remember not to sleuth family members if they are not a suspect or POI.

It appears Lilly was in process of leaving home when she found Michael's hidden photography collection & technology, on Oct 2. Drug's to me seem like an add on-she was leaving anyway. I give her props for turning him in, she could have just left.

“According to the criminal complaint:
A Waukesha police offcer was dispatched to Coyle's home on Wednesday, Oct. 2 after his wife, Lilly, reported finding hidden cameras in the residence. Lilly told the officer that she was in the planning stages of moving out due to problems in the marriage. She decided to search through her husband's stuff and found*a white plastic bag containing several hidden cameras made to look like common items, such as car keys and a pen.*
She plugged one of the devices into her computer and saw that it depicted a woman changing in a bathroom at Swimtastic, where Michael worked part time as a children's swim instructor.
Two women were in various states of undress in the videos. One of the girls, 17, told an officer that several items she was wearing seemed to date the video to late 2011 or early 2012 when she was 16 years old.
The other woman, 20, was identified as a former employee. Her mother told police that she was employed by Swimtastic from July 25, 2011 to December 2011.
Michael admitted to police in a statement that he had secretly recorded the women's locker room a few years ago. He claimed that he had done it only two or three different times.
A search of the residence also turned up three bags of marijuana and various pipes allegedly belonging to Coyle.”

So was this to do with drugs or his illegal photography? I saw nothing further about this case after a quick search. I know, in general, we all are against drug crime, but certainly we don't want the death penalty for people who take illegal photos, imho. Especially before a trial even happens.
