Ward’s car had been pulled from the Pee Dee River after it was found submerged at a boat landing off Gunters Lake Road in the Galivants Ferry area.Police told the family that some recently installed audio sound equipment had been stripped from the car before it was submerged, Sharhonda Warren said. Her brother’s cellphone was in the car, but the SIM card was missing and there was no trace of Ward.

Kareem Ward was a very special person, sweet, loving, kind, would give you the shirt off his back, those are just some of the words family and friends used to describe the young man...

Heartbreaking. His family seems so loving. Surely, someone knows something. I wonder if his SIM card was ever used again...

Ann Warren woke up in the middle of the night screaming, “They just killed my son.

“I felt it. I started crying because I heard him screaming, ‘Mama, help me,’ and I said, ‘Oh Lord, they just killed my son.’ ”

“I know for a fact that he had a large amount of money on him,” she said. He’d just gotten a bank loan, and she’d helped him fill out two money orders to pay his bills.

“He was a real sweet person and no matter who it was, if Kareem could help someone, he would. He would give you what he had if you needed it more than he did,” she said about her son.
“He worked at the cement place and over at the Budweiser place, and he was just about to be promoted,” she said, obviously proud of him.
She talked about how he’d install stereo systems in his friends’ cars for them, and how good he was at that kind of thing.

“I know for a fact that he had a large amount of money on him,” she said. He’d just gotten a bank loan, and she’d helped him fill out two money orders to pay his bills.

“I never saw the money,” his mother said, “But he should have had about $20,000 that wasn’t in the bank and wasn’t with his things. Warren had a hunch who that person was, and told her suspicions to the police.

This case always bugged me.

[h=1]Mom holds hope for proper burial of missing son[/h]
Conway, SC — Ann Warren is still living a nightmare. "I almost had a nervous breakdown. Started going to counseling and still going to counseling as of this day," said Warren sitting on the porch of her Conway home. Ten years ago Saturday, Warren was waiting for her son Kareem Ward to come back to her home in Aynor. She heard a knock, and opened the door to find a police officer. "I said my boy went and got himself in some trouble (so he'll just) stay in there, you know, that was my fault. So he says, 'Ma'am I hate to inform you but we just pulled your sons car out of Gunter's Lake,' and that was a long day," she said.
