Woman searched for her MIA husband for 68 years - you'll never believe what she found

What a beautiful tribute to Mr. Billie Harris. It's wonderful how this community continues to memorialize his courage and sacrifice! Thank you for serving and RIP, Mr. Harris.

Tears now! Both the villagers and Billie's wife loyal to him after all these years; he must have been quite an amazing man. RIP Billie and thank you for your service.

Here ya go, NoZme.

Thanks for adding the video Snoods; you are the best!

This bittersweet story has stolen my heart. Mrs Harris is a remarkable lady. What devotion. What strength. What grace.... The Harris's story should be an addendum to The Greatest Generation.

The failure of the VA is maddening. What a mess!

That's just crazy. Going that long without any real answers and being given the runaround when all this time an entire town has memorialized him.

I was hoping it was something crazy like he was living 3 blocks away or something nuts like that. lol

I found this long article/tribute that fills in all the details of what happened to Billie. Sadly, besides her Congressman incorrectly telling Mrs Harris his fate was still unknown in 2005, US authorities also lost the wedding ring French citizens had retrieved from his body and carefully saved (Mrs Harris couldn't afford a wedding ring, so she'd given Billy her HS ring to wear on a chain).

Ah well, Mrs Harris knows where her husband is, at last. And though he will lie forever in a foreign field, Mrs Harris took a little earth from home, and received special permission to sprinkle it on Billie's grave.

Thanks for posting this as I really enjoyed reading such a beautifully written story.
