The body of a white male was found along I-55 in Pemiscot County, MO on June 17, 1978. He was wearing a red pullover short sleeve shirt with a circle on the chest. Inside the circle was a picture of a dark haired female with the words “Hot Sauce” underneath.

He was also wearing “Pentimento” brand blue jeans and brown or tan 9 inch lace up work boots, size 9 or 10. The subject had a tattoo of “J.H.” on his outer right forearm. He also had a scar in the center of his forehead from between his eyebrows to his hairline. The subject was fair complected and had freckles. He was shot 3 times.

It is believed he was seen with a young woman whose body was found 12 miles down the road on the same day. AR AR - Blytheville, WhtFem 449UFAR, 18-36, "Kim" Tattoo on Right Shoulder, Jun'78 - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

I say we should start with Robert Tippett.

I think we can rule Jimmy Wayne Edwards out, I've found older articles referencing his disappearance and they all also have August 1978 as the date, so it's not a recent transcription error. He was declared dead in 1985 I think.

The other photos of Jimmy Edwards don't show a scar on his forehead. I think that may be a lock of his hair instead of a scar in the photo that is posted in this thread.

John Hale:

https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/23568/0

Name corresponds to the JH tattoo, and he is described as having a Y shaped scar on the forehead.

Height matches

But eye color doesn't match, and the Date LKA is later than the John Doe's date of discovery.

The only other JH who comes close to the description is Johnny Herrera.

Can't find any photo of John Hale, but unlike NamUs, the Ohio Attorney General specifies where he was last seen driving, and his car: http://www.ohioattorneygeneral.gov/...Missing-Persons/Cold-Case-Missing-Adults/Hale

Seems to be in the exact same place in this picture but with the age/quality who can really say for certain.

Also my logic behind the transcription mistake is that the UID was found in June, the 6th month and Jimmy went missing in August, the 8th month. A hand written 6 and 8 can look similar depending on the writing.

My instincts say that it's likely not him but since he is in NamUs it would still be worth a check to rule him out 100%.

Without seeing a picture of the shirt, I wonder if The hot sauce shirt could be an advertisement of the Evangeline Hot Sauce Co., St. Martinville, LA. The company is no longer in operation. It had a dark haired woman. The woman (Evangeline) is tied to the story of Evangeline, as told to Longfellow.

Perhaps the key to solving both is to concentrate on identifying him. If he is identified, that most likely will lead to who Kim is. Boyfriend/girlfriend? Cousins? I think it was mentioned on Kim's WS thread that they were not siblings-that testing had ruled out a sibling connection.

The color photo on the right looks like a school photo and is likely to have been airbrushed.

I didnt search well enough and I posted a thread about this case. There is a new news report speaking of this case. The link is

http://www.kfvs12.com/story/2533859...-year-old-mid-south-john-and-jane-doe-murders

From the link:
Through the years people have come forward looking for missing loved ones, but the murdered couple has never matched any descriptions.

Williams, who keeps an artist's sketch of Jane Doe on the wall in his office, hopes fresh eyes on the case might be the key to solving the crime.

"It would mean the world to me. I'd love to know that somebody was able to put closure to where my family member is," said Williams.

If you think you know anything about the 1978 murders of Jane and John Doe along Interstate 55 in Northeast Arkansas, please call 870-658-2242 or any law enforcement office.

You can go deeper inside the case through this interactive case file, which includes more photos and case file documents: http://www.wmctv.com/link/693170/john-and-jane-doe-case-file?clienttype=generic&mobilecgbypass.

I will cross reference this post on Janes thread.

I wonder if they might be victims of Edward Edwards (http://murderpedia.org/male.E/e/edwards-edward.htm). He's known to have murdered two other couples in 1977 and 1980. The murders were in Ohio and Wisconsin but he lived in Lexington KY for much of his life, and moved around a lot. He lived in Oregon in the 1950's.

Not that that brings us any closer to identifying the victims.

from New York along with his girlfriend Bonita Bickwit? Mitchel was 16 when he disappeared-he could easily have grown an inch in 5 years. He would be in the Doe's age range in 1978.
Mitchel's link is here:

Bonita's link is here:

Bonita was 14 when she disappeared with Mitchel in 1973. She easily could have grown taller in 5 years. She also could have cut/colored her hair. There is something about her eyebrows that reminds me of the female UID in Blytheville, ARK, discovered the same day as the male.
Bonita would be in the Jane Doe's age range in 1978.
Exactly WHY 2 talented teenagers decided to disappear has been a matter of speculation. They may have decided to start a new life together in another part of the country. Bonita was a Grateful Dead fan, they may have been hitchhiking from one concert to another in 1978.

The link to that WS thread about the female UID is here:

I have posted this same info on the Blytheville thread about Mitchel and Bonita.

to John Doe. Here is the missing man's link:
http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/3416dmin.html

His name is Robert Allan Meredith missing from southern Indiana. Not a lot of info about him. He was never reported missing until 1992 and then only by his sister. Maybe the missing date was wrong by a year?
