Oscar Pistorius: South Africa gears up for its 'trial of the century'

(CNN) -- He was one of South Africa's favorite sons, an amputee track star who defied all the odds and sprinted into the hearts of millions during the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. She was a staggering beauty with the brains to match, a law graduate and model whose star was on the rise.

Right...so where were we?

Still some more prosecution witnesses to hear yet, all of the defense evidence still to come. If OP decides take the stand there is talk that it's likely he'll not want camera coverage of himself (i.e. audio only, similar to a few of the witnesses we've previously heard). Some of us have the case sewn up already, some of us are on the fence, and some like me have fell off it a few times throughout this trial, but got back up again.

:detective:

Funny, to me anyway:

He's innocent ... because:
1) He screams like a woman but yells like a man
2) All the neighbors are confused about hearing screams before the shooting
3) As a gentleman he did the right thing in letting his girlfriend sleep helplessly when he was convinced an intruder was just a few feet away
4) His guard dogs didn't bark because they didn't want to wake the neighbors
5) They really weren't arguing an hour before the shooting, even though neighbors reported hearing it.
6) He's really not 'that" reckless with guns ... hey, accidents happen!
7) It's absolutely normal to shoot 4 shots into a closed door not knowing who is behind it
8) Intruders really do climb a ladder into a second story window with guard dogs in the yard and then hide in the toilet.
9) It's normal not to open your valentines day present on valentine's day
10) Calling your lawyer is truly more important that rushing your girlfriend who you have just accidentally shot to the hospital.

There's not a lot sounds wrong with that. On the basis of the points above, what do you think happened that day? I'm presuming a disagreement between Reeva and Oscar is involved.

Roux says he can prove that OP screams like a woman, and we are all eargerly awaiting that evidence!

Yup, the old "I can scream in falsetto and do a duet with myself in two different voices at the same time" defense! Works every time! Sarcasm

I've got that image of pistorius practising his girly scream in the mirror again.

BIB A twit with a gun and a hot temper murdered his girlfriend.

Funny, to me anyway:

He's innocent ... because:
1) He screams like a woman but yells like a man one neighbor already admitted to mistaking Oscar's screams for a woman's. It's possible under duress, this is what he sounds like.

2) All the neighbors are confused about hearing screams before the shooting not all the neighbors heard screams before the shooting

3) As a gentleman he did the right thing in letting his girlfriend sleep helplessly when he was convinced an intruder was just a few feet away

4) His guard dogs didn't bark because they didn't want to wake the neighbors his guard dogs didn't bark because there wasn't an intruder

5) They really weren't arguing an hour before the shooting, even though neighbors reported hearing it. only one neighbor heard this. Credible but inconclusive

6) He's really not 'that" reckless with guns ... hey, accidents happen! i have brought up his well documented recklessness with guns and have also stated I feel he should be convicted of culpable homicide due to his reckless behavior

7) It's absolutely normal to shoot 4 shots into a closed door not knowing who is behind it no one has said this. I think we all agree his actions were decidedly unreasonable that night

8) Intruders really do climb a ladder into a second story window with guard dogs in the yard and then hide in the toilet. again, there was no intruder. But I'll play. I'm in the mind of an intruder: "all the windows are locked. Hey a ladder! The upstairs windows are probably unlocked! They'll never see it coming! Oh, hey it's a bathroom..." Not THAT crazy...

9) It's normal not to open your valentines day present on valentine's day no it's not normal. That's why Reeva told him to wait until tomorrow since she'd given it to him on the 13th

10) Calling your lawyer is truly more important that rushing your girlfriend who you have just accidentally shot to the hospital.i think it's natural. He'd just killed someone and would be arrested soon. Why wouldn't he lawyer up?

We seem to have quite a few reasons as to why OP could be guilty or innocent of premeditated murder. Nel is going to be expected to summarise and re-create a picture as best he can of the events leading up to, during and after the premeditated murder. I've not got a clear story yet - has anybody else?

So many ridiculous things that OPs team are attempting to do here it boggles the mind! The defense on the three gun charges are hard for me to imagine given the multiple eyewitness testimony, but obviously it is coming. I imagine that the Glock was defective causing it to fire the bullet on its own just by passing it from one hand to another. And OP actually stuck his hand out the sunroof, aimed at a large oak tree and fired, hitting the tree center, no person(s) were in any danger.

That's the sort of response I'd expect on a kids forum.

The truth is a classroom full of first grade kids would describe what happened almost exactly as me. Not sure why others cannot see, perhaps trying too hard to make this something other than what it is.

I agree with you, that would be ridiculous. Although I'm not aware that OP's defense have spoken about this yet. Where did you hear this?

I guess it depends how seriously you want people to take you. FWIW in the past you've made some really good contributions, that I'm sure have got people thinking about the case more carefully.

I'd love to chat with you but I follow and post using my mobile phone, so it is really difficult to create large posts like you do. Maybe we can talk about one thing at a time instead?

????

What are you talking about? I didn't create a large post, you did. I put my 1-2 sentence answers to your bullet points inside the quote. Did you even read my answers? You can respond to each point I made one post at a time if you'd like, but that seems rather tedious and...odd.

Good point about the guard dogs. For them to have any merit in the case you would expect them to bark in both scenarios. It seems that the only thing we can determine is that they were far too docile to be considered guard dogs.

Just curious, after killing his girlfriend OP was concerned about securing a memory card containing offshore bank account data from a safe, and a box of wristwatches; his mind was apparently not very emotional or upset or regretful of killing the love of his life for very long, was it?

I think they were. People have pointed out that as the medical personal and security and authorities were coming and going the dogs didn't make a peep. Maybe they weren't much of a guard.

Regardless, I doubt in that scenario if someone hears someone in their bathroom and thinks it's an intruder they're going to stop and think, "but the dogs didn't bark?" It's easy to sit here and rationalize after the fact. But I think we've well established Oscar is not a rational man.
