Breaking news

Malaysia Airlines says it has lost contact with a plane travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, with 239 people on board.

The airline said in a statement that flight MH370 disappeared at 02:40 local time on Saturday (18:40 GMT on Friday).

I'm praying the plane is found and people on the plane survive.

The moderators have been wading in a pool of alerts this morning - and most are coming from this forum. :yow: I wanted to review some of the issues that happened yesterday because if the issues continue, some of our members are going to find themselves on the outside looking in. :(

- Discuss the topic and not each other. If you have a problem with a fellow poster, alert via the little red triangle in the upper corner of the post and the mods will review privately

- Limit the one liners. A little humor while waiting is okay, but when it goes on and on then it falls into being "off topic" which is a forum violation. And make sure you're not poking fun at this tragedy. Not funny.

- The political comments need to go in the Political Pavilion. Also, while it's a good thing to be proud of your own country, it's not good to make fun of other countries. Websleuths is an international community and we think each person is just as important as the next. We are proud to have all of you as members.

If you have any questions, don't be afraid to privately contact the moderator of your choice. First you might want to review our Rules forum. Your answer can probably be found there --->The Rules - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

This is probably a stupid idea but how about this method.

Since they have a large number of planes now. How about doing like they do foot searches. Spread out arm-to-arm and walk/fly in a straight line.

Start at where plane was last known to be and separate each plane 1 or 2 miles apart. Wing to wing. Then fly due South and low and everybody looks. Once they get to Perth. Land, Refuel, and make a swoop back north till all area is covered.

Each flight would only take 1 day at most so within a few days, they could cover the whole area , couldnt they?

I dropped off this thread for awhile because of Relisha Rudd's case, but when reading the news this morning, I had a thought: planes should be equipped with some sort of dye designed to float on the surface for about 72 hrs if it crashes in the ocean.

Back to lurkdom... :seeya:

Can you use these numbers?

Mr. Hansford pointed to the amount of fuel likely on board the Boeing 777-200, at nearly full capacity with 31,000 gallons instead of the 45 per cent loading required to pilot a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, as being a strong indicator that MH370's disappearance was not accidental.

For hijacker- the questions are even more. But generally - How did they get into the cockpit? How many were there? How did they all pass security clearance? If it was one person - how did one person do all of that? How did they get the tools in to do this mission (getting into cockpit, etc.)? What did they do to the passengers and crew? How did they disable the pilots? What was the motive of "losing" the plane?

From like day 3-4 (Free Scale) I look at this as highly planned, years in the making, many folks, countries involved terrorist attack in the same league as 9-11.

Whatever country has the plane was in on it. And now in hindsight if you look at it us thus far it’s getting ready to eclipse 9-11 in terms of media coverage.

I think the 20 FS guys were participants. I think the two passport kids were part of it. They picked the ER 777] Extended Range flight segment ,, they picked late departure, flying all through darkness, (and happened to have 20 engineers that are working on ways to interfere with transponders ACARS air traffic junk radar systems for the defense department.)

I think the belly had lots of electronic hi tech stuff to accompany the 20 engineers. I think pilot in on it, copilot was not. The reason why he sounded muffled was because he had been clobbered, or shoe bomb just blew off cockpit door something like that.

And the media keeps making this all or nothing stuff. Both pilots and no pilot involvement. What makes most sense is one cockpit member is participant. Or media claims it can’t be terrorist because nothing has happened yet. 911 was a years in the making event.

Is it or is it not suicide media it - can’t be because he flew a long time. If suicide, he flew to what the world now knows is a pretty perfect place not to be found.

The amount of time the aircraft spent in the air, IMO rules out mechanical or fire!

The questions of fuel on board are very crucial. It could be in Ireland for all we know!!

Motive? Money could just be in a hanger with all the toys in the belly, 20 engineers coerced into giving proprietary top secret Intel. Could be black market stuff related to the stuff, if there is, in the belly. Could be waiting for aviation to quiet down before loading her up and …………………….

“Hijacking” IMO is to go somewhere! What did they do to the passengers and crew? Terrorists are terrorists - they kill people all the time. Again the media well where are the passengers - just like the people in 9-11, Madrid train bombing etcetc they were murdered.

The media again how come we did not get any cell phone activity - if there were 20 FS folks involved and made it clear we see anyone trying to use a phone.......................most folks would be compliant I think.

CARIIS, i agree with your post above. I, also, don't believe (for a second) that tightening security is just "a sign of the times".

"Malaysia Airlines and Malaysia Airports Hol*dings Bhd have tightened flight security in the air and on the ground in the wake of the Flight MH370 tragedy.

The pilot and a co-pilot are now not allowed to be left alone in the cockpit, even when one of them is taking a toilet break, according to a MAS circular.

Under the new rules, a cabin crew member has to be in the cockpit until the pilot or co-pilot returns from the restroom.

When bringing food to the cockpit, a flight attendant is required to stand guard at the door to make sure no passenger enters the restricted area.

Datuk Capt Missman Leham, MAS chief pilot for flight safety and human factors, issued the circular to all flight deck crews."

And, who decides to fill up the tank? I don't think this would be pilots decision. Someone on the ground made this decision.

Sorry to say, but I have a feeling this is rapidly developing into an Amelia Earhart situation. I wonder just how long so many countries can continue to devote extensive time & resources to the search.

I have the utmost sympathy for the passengers & their families, but I do not understand how any of the families can still hold out hope of their loved ones being found alive. Honestly, if a relative of mine had been on board, I would be making arrangements for a memorial service. I'm not hard-hearted, but I have lived long enough to know that sometimes life can be extremely cruel. God bless all involved.

I got stuck on Jury Duty for the past week and was focusing on that case so I missed a lot, well actually looks like I didn't miss much. We are still stuck in the same spot we have been in since Day 1. No real evidence as to what happened or where the plane is.
It's frustrating.
I think the search zones are just misdirection.

A lot of good questions and covers most of the questions over past 2 weeks.

IMO I am leaning towards something done on purpose for the sole reason that this is a very strange disappearance. It just does not seem like a typical plane crash.

If there was some sort of mechanical failure I think there would have been a mayday call on radio. That would be the minimum.
I would have thought at least 1 radio call would have been made if there was some kind of problem.

Something very very strange happened and to me it points to something being done on purpose.

It is only the pilots decision! He must sign off on it. All he would have to do is tell the guy that connects the hose to put in x I am anticpating headwinds, I am heavy tonight, could be some negative weather. A ground handler would never question the fuel order or a member of the flight crew!

You did not miss anything but a bunch of planes and ships changing their direction every 4.2 hours -- no worries! Its normal but can be exhausting!

I think the hope is more for hijacking since they have not found proof it's in the ocean.

When the word hijacking is being used are folks making that different than terrorist? To me there is a diff and this is not IMO a hijacking but a terrorist act.???
