Just saw short segment on Megyn Kelly's show about a beautiful young woman named Ashley Fallis whose death by gunshot to the head was ruled a suicide, but the events leading up to the death as related by eye witness accounts do not support the "suicide" determination and the lead detective has been accused of changing witnesses statements to affect the determination. I just want to read about it here, as it is so outrageous, but am unable to find a thread. The search function of websleuths doesnt work for me. I cant believe this isnt being discussed here.

Thank you costalpilot for this story. There was obviously a struggle at the crime scene.

Tom Fallis told investigators he and his wife never physically fought that night. However, a witness in the home behind the Fallis’ contradicted that statement.

One police report quotes a witness named Chelsea Arrigo, who said she heard Ashley Fallis scream, “Get off me. Get off me,” before the gunshot.

Tom denied he had touched Ashley, but evidence photos taken during his interview showed Tom had scratch marks on his chest.

It was shocking how that officer Yates changed the witness statements. I hope he not only losses his job but gets charged with a crime. I thought but he and Chief Rick Brandt looked like they were about to cry on the video. Kudos to Fox 31 Denver!

I think if her parents had stayed any longer he would have shot them too. He said wanted them all dead. It's a shame he has custody of the children, especially when one of them saw him "get the gun ready" on the night he killed their mother. There is so much evidence against him I can not believe local LE tried to protect him, it's sickening.

Even worse than sickening is that it is so obvious what happened, and just as obvious that it was covered up by the INVESTIGATOR.

Be sure and see the interview where he goes off at the young female interrogator. Chilling.
Imo.

Local newspaper cautiously editorializes on the two investigations, one into the investigator and another into his so called investigation:

We don’t know what happened the night Ashley Fallis died, but we’re glad two northern Colorado police agencies are working to answer lingering questions about her death.

The Evans woman died of gun shot wounds on Jan. 1, 2012, shortly after a New Year’s Eve party at her home. Her death initially was ruled a suicide. However, her family members contend she never would have taken her own life. They contacted a Denver television station, which hired a forensic pathologist to review the case and have raised questions about how she died.

“Within only a few days, the death was prematurely ruled a suicide. Yet there is an abundance of evidence clearly showing that Tom Fallis shot and killed his wife. He then covered up the murder by lying and saying it was a suicide,” the family’s attorney, Dan Recht, told reporters.

the family has issued a statement about a rally:

The family of Ashley Fallis is planning a peaceful protest to be held in Evans Colorado, on May 4th between the hours of 12:00-4:00 Our primary protest will be, Why is detective Michael Yates not on administrative leave after having omitted crucial ear and eye witness statements that would of lead to an arrest of Tom Fallis for the MURDER of Ashley Fallis! We will also protest police chief Rick Brandt for allowing a murderer to go free by covering it up, if not himself, he is in control of all officer's below him.
Anyone that would like to make their own signs is welcome to do so. Please keep them from having vulgar profanity. Though we are outraged and disgusted with Evans police department, we will conduct ourselves in a manner that brings more shame to Evans police department and in the same light brings honor to Ashleys life.
We are asking all friends and family on Facebook and outside to get as many of their friends and family involved in this protest. Anyone that is serious about taking the time to honor Ashley and protest Evans police department, please e-mail kerickson1986@gmail.com and we will respond with the meetup location.
This will all be covered by local and national press coverage.
We hope to see many people out there!!!

The New Year's Day 2012 death of a woman that had previously been ruled a suicide now has a murder suspect in custody.

According to Bloomington Police Department, Tom Fallis was arrested for murder at his home in Bloomington, Ind. at 8 a.m. MST without incident. An indictment out of Weld County came down Monday night regarding the recently-reopened case.

As a member of a law enforcement family I am disgusted and appalled that this was covered up at all. Every single officer who withheld evidence or who looked the other way while others covered up should lose their job. Those who can be prosecuted should be in prison.

The chief is worthless. He could have personally seen to it that lies and cover ups would rooted out and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Instead he watched it happen and failed to act until the family took it public.

Time to clean this corrupt house from the top down! MOO

Tom Fallis is now accused of killing his wife with a Taurus 9 mm handgun following a heated argument. On Dec. 31, 2011, he reportedly became irate when his wife said she was going to go outside to "have a smoke" because he believed she was going to use marijuana.

After he allegedly shot his wife, he called 911 and claimed that she shot herself in the head...

The Evans Police Department will hire an independent investigator to conduct an internal review of Yates' and the department's overall handling of the case.

A Weld District Court judge on Tuesday denied a request to amend the conditions of Tom Fallis’ bond to allow the former Weld County corrections officer to return to Indiana while he awaits trial in his second-degree murder case...

Fallis moved to Indiana with his three children following the 2012 shooting death of his wife, Ashley Fallis, after a New Year’s Eve party at their Evans home.

Tom Fallis is taking his appeal of bond conditions to the Colorado Supreme Court, and in doing so has highlighted previously unreported details about the investigation into the 2012 death of his wife, Ashley, as well as her mental state in the months before the shooting.

An emergency motion to modify Fallis’ bail conditions, which was filed with the Supreme Court on Tuesday, alleges Ashley Fallis penned two suicide notes to her husband in the months before her death, and learned on the day of her death that she had just suffered a miscarriage.
