Deputies investigate body found near White Sulphur Springs

<snip>

A resident of White Sulphur Springs came across the body on Friday, April 18. Deputies were able to determine that it was the body of a human male. Investigators have been able to determine that the victim was young to middle-aged.

Very little information has been released about this so far. The remains were located very close to an I-64 rest area. There are also train tracks running between I-64 and where the remains were found. This is a small town and to my knowledge there is no one missing. There are however many employee's from other countries who come here to work at a large resort. Most appear to be in their 20's, perhaps someone didn't make it back to their home country. The work is seasonal and they are starting to return now for this season.
This is at least the 3rd incident of remains being found just off I-64 within about 20 mile span in recent years. Only 1 has been identified.

Here is a link listing work that has been done on the others here at WS's

I-64 can be very desolate 8n some areas and hilly and curvy it's a pain to drive. The resort mentoned but not named is more than likely Greenbriar. I don't think they'll find answers by checking the registers of seasonal help from the past few years. My reasoning for saying that is I have not read of a case where someone went to work for a resort and never came home.

It may be someone missing from the new river gorge area, Roanoke va is less than an hour away, tons of tourism in that area. And yes the resort is the Greenbriar which attracts lots of tourists. It also has a casino which is something to consider...

I did not zero in on the UID being a seasonal employee, merely mentioned as a possibility. IMO certainly one worth looking in to. The location where the remains were found is between the resort and the area of rental housing where most live during their stay. Their main mode of transportation to and from work is walking. It is for these reasons that I mentioned it. After looking at the area today, my first thought of the body being dumped from the interstate does not seem so likely. There does not seem to be access. At this point, because of location, i would lean toward someone familiar with the area. The remains were found very close to a residence.

Shadow you mention this is the 3rd person found in a 20 mile stretch, do you think there could be a serial killer in the area?

I agree the resort is worth looking in to, any and all ideas should be explored, I guess I should have put a IMO in front of that statement. I wasn't knocking your post, just stating my opinion.

I-64 is a road I hate to travel its beautiful out there, but not an easy drive.

Correct me if I am wrong, wasnt there remains found on I-81 in VA not so long ago?

I don't really have an opinion on that...yet. The female in Greenbrier State Forest and the female at Alta were both so close to I-64. They seem to me to have been dumped there because of the convenience to I-64. Female at GSF was identified and if remember correctly was victim of domestic violence and from Maryland?

Since we have literally nothing than "male" and "young to middle aged" to go on, here are a few possibilities, close to SSWV:

1.) Derek Lueking, missing since 2012: "Last seen in the Cherokee, NC area at the address above (Microtel Inn and Suites). The vehicle Derek was driving was found within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park near the Tennessee and North Caroline state line. While his vehicle was located at the Newfound Gap area, no one interviewed on and off the trail could verify him being inside or outside the park after leaving the hotel at 0400 hrs on the morning of March 17, 2012."

2.) Dominick Brown-Hill (missing since 2012 from Penn Hills, PA near P'burgh):

Richard told his friend he was walking home to Eagle Peak Dr. Richard has not been seen or heard of since that day.

6.) Martin Trinidad (missing since 2013): Winston-Salem Police believe Martin Javier Trinidad was last seen leaving his apartment complex on Motor Road in a green colored 1997 Ford Explorer, on 5/11/2013. My personal faves for this body are Crigger and Deenis.

I have to disagree about the resort workers. My brother used to be a short-order cook at a resort area, and it was pretty common for somebody to just stop showing up. They'd get fed up with something at work, or they'd go to a week-long party, or find a new boyfriend/girlfriend to move in with, or whatever. They know they can always get a new job somewhere else. Often they're living in shared quarters with people they don't know very well. If somebody didn't come home after a shift, the roommates might or might not even notice and in most cases wouldn't think much of it. So I can easily believe that nobody reported it.

I wasn't looking at it from that angle. I was looking at it.from a family angle like someone left home for a job and wasn't heard from again or didn't return home.
Your angle is great too.

Ah, yes, if somebody didn't come home under those circumstances, it probably would be noticed.

I believe he was suggested on the topix thread about the body -- but whoever suggested it spelled it "Johnson" lol

Couldn't find anything, and the website for the WV medical examiner's office is showing several vacancies (http://www.wvdhhr.org/ocme/phone.asp) so I bet they're backlogged. They don't seem to keep a listing of state UIDs on line anywhere that I could find, unlike some states.

I noticed that too. What is with those states?! It's 2014, anyone can buy a computer and internet access these days!

There are 9 people listed above as possibilities, but didn't see a link for any of the on this site, do you guys know if they have threads here or how to start one if not? I am such a novice at this.... Also, what is considered smaller stature? It's such a relative term... In my mind, 5'10" is a shorter man, but that could be because my ale relatives are so tall... I'm not sure what height to consider a rule out?
