A Silver Alert has been activated by the California Highway Patrol for an at-risk Amador County man who went missing sometime after leaving his son's home in Elk Grove Monday about 3 p.m. The CHP said Warren Hagyard, 79, was supposedly headed for Sacramento.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office announced today that it is scaling back its search for a missing Amador County man whose car was found stuck in a creek bed last weekend.

Search for Hagyard scaled back in Nevada

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Unit in Nevada has scaled back efforts to locate Warren Hagyard, the 79-year-old Pine Grove man who has been missing since April 21. An average of 40 to 45 personnel from Washoe County and a number of other northern Nevada law enforcement agencies had been actively searching a 400-square mile area of remote and rugged terrain in the Coyote Canyon area northeast of Nixon, Nevada where Hagyard’s car was found May 3. At this time, search supervisors have decided to “step back” from the active search in order to review strategies for continuing effort.
