About two months ago on my travels to the airport I came across a Road Traffic Collision, the road had already been closed off for about 1 hour and a diversion was in place. Looking at the scene it already seemed likely a fatal had occurred.
However the road remained closed for about 8 hours before re-opening, with reports of a female in a critical condition in hospital. Later that day it came on BBC news that she'd died later on.
Maria Nekrasova, 18, was hit by the taxi as it crossed the river towards the South Bank at just before 2am on Sunday May 4.The driver of the cab stopped at the scene immediately after the collision and was not arrested. An investigation is being led by the Serious Collision Investigation Unit.

An inquest was opened and adjourned at Southwark Coroner’s Court and will be reopened at a later date.
The Coroner accepted that Miss Nekrasova died as a result of severe injuries to her brain steam as a result of the collision with the black cab and did not order a post mortem.
The Russian national moved to the UK from Moscow last September to start a three-year undergraduate degree in Cultural and Creative Industries at London City University. She also gave up her time as a volunteer as part of the university’s City Volunteering programme, where Miss Nekravosa posted photographs on Twitter of her painting walls as part of the scheme.
Looking at where the accident information request was posted, the section she would have crossed is one of the widest sections of road in London, very dangerous because many people have risked crossing here. It's unprotected and many people said this was bound to happen in this location.
My other concerns are taxi drivers have little or no care for stopping or slowing down for any road users, its little or no surprise she would have likely have died instantly, any efforts the hospital (just a stones throw away) did was probably in vain. So sad to hear yet another young person with a dream and life ahead of her so tragically taken away from her so suddenly, nobody should have to bury there child. Let alone find out about the news some weeks later (hence no name till 21st of May).
