Family members are asking for help from the public to locate 19-year-old Erin Corwin, who has been missing from her home on board the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center since 7 a.m. Saturday, June 28.

According to information provided by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Corwin’s husband reported her missing on Sunday, June 29. Corwin is reported to be three months pregnant, according to the sheriff’s department.

According to her sister-in-law, DeeAnna Heavilin, Corwin left in her 2013 Toyota Corolla on her way to Joshua Tree National Park and has not been seen or heard from since... The vehicle, she said, later, was found on Valle Vista Road.

She's described as 5-foot-2 with light brown hair. She was last seen about 7am Saturday morning.

Her sister tells KMIR NEWS that Corwin was apparently on her way to Joshua Tree National Park to look for a campsite for a future trip there.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department and Joshua Tree National Park Rangers began an extensive search by air and on the ground. The San Bernardino Sheriff's Homicide Detail was also called in to assist with the investigation.

Carrying my reply over from the previous thread (thanks imamaze for the new one!):

Attention Please!

I've removed a few posts that had wild speculation about the victim. If you see your posts missing, you know this is for you.

Let's not make up wild speculations about the victim where there is not one bit of proof or reference. Let's stick to the facts as they're known.

Websleuths is a victim friendly website and rumors are not allowed. Please remember that when you post.

fran - this article agrees with your post - BBM: Law enforcement have remained noncomittal, simply sticking to the facts.

They also say: Since the case's inception, little has been disclosed to the public.

Yeah... no kidding! I keep trying to tell myself that they feel releasing any information would be either harmful or anyway not helpful when it comes to finding her or investigating what happened to her, but man it's difficult. There's really nothing they can say that might help with finding her?

So, working on the theory that she may have been hiding more from her husband than just a possible affair, it becomes useful to the search, because it gives us an investigative angle. A rumour may just be a rumour, except in an investigation which is what we're all here for correct? It can give us something to go on...

I recall cases where police didn't disclose much and later admitted that they didn't have any clue what had happened. They had no leads at all.

I recall cases where police didn't see much and later made an arrest and held a press conference with all sorts of details, including the overwhelming evidence they found.

The fact that they haven't made an arrest tells me that they either don't know where a person is or simply don't have enough evidence to charge anyone. Hopefully, they are not relying totally on building a case around stuff that hasn't been uncovered yet.

That article is also from the Examiner, which isn't really mainstream media, FWIW. It's amateur journalism and blogs for the most part. You can tell by the poor editing.

Here's the wiki on Examiner:

I agree, especially since they're still calling him a Lance Corporal. Facts straight indeed.

Early on this case reminded me - like so many other WSers - of the Whitney Heichel case. I remember being astounded at how quickly events unfolded, the speed with which the search was underway, how quickly she was found and how quickly the perp was arrested. I was hoping that would happen here for Erin.

It does seem to me at this point that it must be someone known to Erin. I just don't get the feeling that this was random, mostly because of the way and location her car was abandoned. What I'm thinking is that a more experienced offender - sex offender, unfortunately because that's just the predictable pattern for these types of things - wouldn't leave the car so close by. The location of the car in relation to the base feels haphazard and amateurish.

I also wonder about erin leaving her house to go sightseeing at 7am. I understand that it gets hot quite early, etc., but at 2/3 mos. pregnant, that is, in my experience, the worst time for nausea. In my case, it wasn't just 'morning sickness' - it was all-day nausea, for both pregnancies, though it was definitely more pronounced in the morning.

It seems odd to me that she would have headed out so early and intended to be gone so long--- what would she have been doing until 4pm. Did she have snacks and water, or anything for possible nausea? I haven't read anything about that anywhere, and find that odd.

All just MOO. Wishing that it is simply a case of an overwhelmed 19yo 'running away', like someone else suggested, but am deep down fearing the worst.

It feels rather childlike or rather stupid to ask this question given all the people involved and the agencies etc. but; They are using thermal imagery on those helicopters right??

Because it would be moronic of them not to have been using it this whole time, knowing as they do, that even a body dump produces much more heat than the desert environment at night possibly ever could.

I did notice that they said, "Her mother was soon to visit from Tennessee, where the young couple had grown up and married, and the daughter was searching for places to go and perhaps picnic." I don't think a picnic was ever mentioned previously, was it?

Please forgive me for this possibly dumb question but your post sparked a thought. Does thermal imagery work effectively when it's so hot out? If weather.com's right it was 107 today, and only even dropping to 84 overnight for a few hours. It's been near or over 100 every day since she went missing. Here's the info for twentynine-palms: http://www.weather.com/weather/monthly/USCA1173. Joshua Tree's similar: http://www.weather.com/weather/monthly/CANPJT:13.

No, I think earlier it was mentioned she was looking for good photo spots. Although as some have mentioned the Examiner is kinda questionable as a source so maybe they just threw in the picnic thing.

After just looking up the weather info for there I can't imagine intentionally going out for a picnic unless it was breakfast! Jump out of the (hopefully air conditioned!) car for a few quick photos seems more realistic.

well here's a link that might help : http://books.google.ca/books?id=DAa...page&q="decomposing body" temperature&f=false

sorry for the disturbing quality of the subject matter.

This : http://newswalle.com/food/family-of-missing-pregnant-wife-erin-corwin-prays-for-a-miracle/

is the weirdest article about her disappearance of them all. Old pictures, a pic of used panties, immigration documents, all in an article listed in the food category. Just because it looks like MSM doesn't mean it is MSM.

WTF?? They talk about Erin being a "him" and then in the next breath talk about Erin being pregnant. What a piece of you-know-what article! :maddening:

I saw the picnic mentioned before. Don't ask me where..but I did see it and I think her mother said it.

What scares me is that it's in the FOOD section. Why food??

Oh yuck... but thank you for the information. I tried Google but was getting so many results I didn't even know where to start. So I guess yes, it would be useful, especially if they used it in the early morning hours when temps are in the 80s. I agree with your original point, hopefully they've been using it on the helicopters.
