Chief: Stolen car found, woman still missing following Upper Saucon home invasion

A Mercedes Benz stolen during an Upper Saucon home-invasion robbery was recovered Thursday in Allentown, but the township's police chief said the whereabouts of a woman who went missing after the robbery remains a mystery. Upper Saucon police Chief Robert Coyle said the woman, who he would only describe as being in her 30s, was either abducted or left willingly following Wednesday's robbery in a $1 million condo in the 5400 block of Boulevard Grand Cru. She was entered into the National Crime Information Center database as an endangered person, Coyle said. The chief said the homeowner, a man in his 70s, described the woman as an employee of his who was helping him with a financial book he was writing. Her job included taking dictation and transcribing his notes, the chief said.

The ordeal began when a woman came to the home around 11 a.m. Wednesday, knocked on the door and the homeowner answered. The woman asked for the man's employee, who was upstairs. Around the same time, several men, between three and five, burst into the home took the resident to the living room and held him at gunpoint, Coyle said. The robbery victim was not certain how many people came in, the chief said. Some of the robbers went upstairs, where the missing woman was, and looked through other parts of the house, he said. The men then tied up the resident's hands and left with his car, Coyle said. Coyle said the resident said his employee was taken against her will. FBI agents assisted in the investigation.

What the heck? Why not release the name and a picture of the missing person? How will people know who to be looking for? Strange.

ETA: there are a lot of people gone missing in PA recently. Not that any of them are connected, just that there sure is a rash of MP's lately.

Here is another similar report:

There was a knock on the door and he [the homeowner] opened the door," said Chief Robert Coyle, Upper Saucon police. "There was a female at the door asking for a party they believed to be inside the residence."

The woman, Coyle said, then entered the home, followed by three other people. "They tied him up and placed a gun to his head and proceeded to steal items from the residence, in addition to stealing his Mercedes car," Coyle said, who described the car as a silver E350 sedan with PA license plate GLR-1343. "They advised him to not look at him, so he just kept his head straight ahead," said Coyle, who said the homeowner is in his 70s and was not hurt. A woman believed by police to be upstairs at the time the intruders entered the home is now missing. According to Coyle, the homeowner said the woman was transcribing a book he is writing.

According to Lehigh County property records, the home is owned by the Russell W. Yurchak Irrevocable Trust.

Dan Marakovits, the owner of M&M Lawn Service, said he saw a car which he thinks was a black Mazda with at least three people inside. "I had to move the pickup truck for them to get through, so I did that and I didn't even watch where they were going because I didn't think anything of it," he said. Marakovits said about 15 to 20 minutes later an elderly man in a gray Mercedes convertible pulled up. "Struck up a conversation, I shook his hand, he drove off. Little did I know in five minutes he was going to be robbed, possibly tied up and his car would be stolen," he said. Marakovits said his colleague saw the Mercedes and the dark colored car leave in a hurry. He said, "Never did we think there would be a robbery maybe three, 400 yards away from where we were working." An ambulance was called to the house around 9:20 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a male feeling dizzy. Police and paramedics left the house around 9:45 p.m.

This story is odd..... he doesn't know who the woman transcribing his book is?

One of the stories mentioned the homeowner was taken to the hospital complaining of dizziness and he was in his 70's so he may have just been so upset at the time he couldn't remember a lot of details. Also, he told police when the unknown woman came to the door she asked for his employee by name so that suggests he knew her name. I know I would be crazy upset in his situation, hopefully that's what happened.

Of course, JMO

This is very odd indeed. If the woman didn't live there, and they just wanted her, why didn't they wait until she left? Did she have a car there as well? I know they took things, so maybe it was a setup?

ClaireNC, what comment? I seriously don't see one in that article- did it get deleted perhaps?

It looks like they deleted it. I'll send you a pm.

If it's the one by Doddy02 it's still there but I wouldn't be a bit surprised if it isn't yanked. BTW, I did google it and didn't find any of that info that was alluded to.

I don't seen similarities to the home invasion and killing of Joseph C.

Makes me wonder if she's in on it, if she was even there at the time...

Good grief! I didn't even know sites like that existed. I didn't even know older men with money behaved that way! But I guess it's considered a rumor???

That was the first thing I thought of. They asked for her by name, how would they know her name.. now she's gone. Have only read one article so far, did they get away with anything other than the car? Money? Jewelry?

smells like a setup to me, involving the conveniently missing personal assistant jmo
