Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

A Macclenny landscaper was arrested the morning of June 28 as he left his residence on Ray Phillips Rd. and charged with the strangulation death of his wife in a wooded area near St. George, GA on January 21, 2014.

The warrant charging Johnny Padgett, 35, with homicide and aggravated assault was issued by the Charlton County sheriff’s office as it wound up an investigation that began when the remains of Heather Padgett, 28, were positively identified...

The suspect’s sister Dana Padgett reportedly told the investigators her brother and his wife were high on methamphetamines when taken to Georgia by Ms. Wells, and in a paranoid state. They brought with them small tents and said they were going to hold out in the woods for a while. The report also verifies that Deputy Robert Simpkins picked up Mr. Padgett walking on SR 121 near the state line the evening of January 21 and took him to his sister’s residence.
