the problem with anagramming is there is no verifiable pattern so it's really all just guessing. the likelihood is that the end text is just random letters to fill out the remaining spaces after the real message.

The key to a cypher is pinpointing the patterns. In other words, find patterns first, then meaning follows. So where is the origin of these letters? *sigh* I'll read backward.

If you're really into ciphers, check out Ricky McCormick's thread. I was so deep into it, that the powers that be figured they'd better make me a moderator just to shut me up. :floorlaugh:

Just kidding, sorta.

Time will tell. Read on for a few posts. I'm happy to explain my method to anyone who might be interested.

Bottom line, it's all about context.

Assuming "dangeroue" is a clue, and not a "mistake," and that there may be only 17 letters in the "anagram," (the circled dot symbol at the end of the previous line of 17 characters may be a "period" at the end of the message) then the angaram may be as follows:

B S O R I E T E M E T H H P I T I

From which one easily gets

ROBEPT E SMITH THE II

The funny thing is, Robert "Graysmith's" REAL name is Robert G Smith II.
