[h=1]Fremont police believe woman missing since 1989 was murdered[/h]
FREMONT (KRON) — Fremont police have reopened a case Wednesday after potential new evidence led them to believe that a woman who went missing in 1989 was a homicide victim.
Investigators said witnesses indicated that Abraham didn’t trust Muhleman to take care of their daughter or take care of the house while he was gone at an Alameda County-sponsored work furlough program.

Police said that based on current witness statements and physical evidence at the house on Decoto Road, they believe Muhleman was the victim of homicide, although her body has never been found.

Fremont police said their crimes against persons unit is now actively investigating the case because of potential new evidence. Investigators are reviewing physical evidence that was originally located in 1989 and are contacting witnesses to Muhleman’s disappearance.

The boyfriend raised the couple's daughter, who (naturally enough) doesn't believe her father was involved in her mother's killing:

Because police never arrested or filed charges against the boyfriend, this news organization is not naming him. Their daughter, Jennifer Abraham, however, who has only the thinnest fragments of memories left of her mom and was raised by her father, doesn’t believe he was to blame.

“My father was an amazing dad,” she said. “Not having a mother didn’t affect me. I have a lot of family and aunts who supported me over the years.”

Anyone with information about the case, no matter how trivial, is encouraged to contact Fremont police Detective Jacob Blass at 510-790-6963 or jblass@fremont.gov.

Louisiana has a pregnant Jane Doe who washed up years ago. Probably not her since he was in a furlough program (how would she have gotten to Louisiana?), but I have never understood how no one was missing a pregnant woman. She remains unclaimed.

Where was that furlough program? Far away?Since she "couldn't be trusted to take care of the house and daughter?"

I wonder if Fremont police will ever do a thorough search of Niles canyon? I will bet their are so many bodies buried there. Too many people have gone missing, and that place would be a perfect place to hide a body. I have never heard of them searching it.

Has the pregnant woman in the well where the Speed Freak Killers placed their murder victims been tested against Sheri?

Details of Disappearance

Muhleman was living with her boyfriend in Fremont, California at the time of her disappearance. He is the father of their daughter, who was five years old at the time, and the couple reportedly had a stormy relationship.

Muhleman's boyfriend's sister was the last one to see Muhleman, at 9:30 a.m. on February 27, 1989 in Muhleman's home in the 3400 block of Decoto Road. Her boyfriend stated she was asleep when he left at 8:00 a.m. to go to work, and when he returned, she was gone. Her mother reported her missing two weeks later.

Although it was raining the day Muhleman disappeared, her coat was left behind. She was unemployed at the time of her disappearance and had a warrant out for her arrest for drug charges, but authorities do not believe she left because of the warrant. She kept in almost daily touch with her relatives prior to her disappearance, but none of them have heard from her since 1989.

Investigators initially suspected Muhleman's boyfriend in her case, but no evidence has been uncovered linking him to her disappearance. Foul play is suspected in her disappearance.

Circumstances of Disappearance

Sheri was last seen on February 27, 1989, at her home at 3473 Decoto Road where she lived with her boyfriend and their daughter.

Sheri was reported missing by her mother when she hadn't heard from her in two weeks.

The boyfriend told police he last saw Sheri sleeping at about 8:00 a.m. when he left the house for his job at his landscaping business. When he got home later that day, she was gone.

It was raining on the day Sheri disappeared, but she had left behind her coat. She was facing a $2,500 warrant for an arrest on charges of being under the influence of drugs. However, she was in touch with family members almost daily, and police do not believe she tried to skip out on the warrant.

In 2017, investigators reclassified Sheri from a missing person to homicide victim.

According to reports, Sheri was last seen at 9:30 a.m. by her boyfriend and his sister. Sheri was packing up her personal belongings inside the home. The boyfriend didn't trust Sheri to take care of their child or the house while he was away on a work furlough program.

Based on witness statements and physical evidence found in the home at the time, police believe Sheri was a victim of foul play, although her body has never been found. Her boyfriend has been named a suspect.
