ATLANTA - Furious that their romance was ending, a 78-year-old great-grandmother shot her 85-year-old ex-beau to death as he read the newspaper in a senior citizens home, police said.

“I did it and I’d do it again!” Lena Driskell yelled to officers who arrived at the home June 10, according to testimony. Police said she was wearing a bathrobe and slippers, waving an antique handgun with her finger still on the trigger.

Great-grandmother Lena Driskell is charged with firing four shots into her boyfriend's head after he broke up with her, but a judge ordered her freed on bond Friday.

Fulton prosecutor Jack Barrs had urged Fulton County Magistrate Richard Hicks to keep the 78-year-old woman behind bars because he fears she could still pose a threat.

"What's she doing with a gun in an old folks' home?" the judge asked Driskell's attorney.

Driskell had had the gun since 1957, when her father gave it to her, Poole said.

Just goes to show that age isn't important when it comes to matters of the heart. This lady didn't take kindly to being jilted did she. I can't believe that they released her on $25,000 bail. To me she is just as dangerous as any other female that has committed a murder. If that had been my dad that she shot I would be screaming from the rooftops.

The mindset is already there in a lot of instances. Thanks DS, this proves it one more time. Also, one has to think if this ultimate act of selfishness occured than what other instances to innocent people all over?
