Hall County deputies have set up roadblocks to try to apprehend 24-year-old Cornelio Rivera Zamites. Authorities have obtained murder, kidnapping and child molestation warrants for Zamites’ arrest.

The child, described only as a Hispanic female, was reported missing at 1 a.m. early today.

Esmerelda, who accompanied her parents in visiting Zamites Saturday night, disappeared early Sunday morning. Her body was found seven hours later in woods near Zamite's trailer on Pratt Reece Road.

Jesus Nava, his wife, Veronica, and their daughter had arrived earlier Saturday evening to visit Zamites, police said.

The child was reported missing at about 1 a.m., police said, from the rural area of single-story houses and trailers about five miles from where the Navas lived in Gainesville.

"At this time, we know that the girl and the parents were visiting, and the little girl became missing," said Capt. Jeff Strickland of the Hall County Sheriff's Office Sunday. "He [Zamites] is our suspect

The child, barely 3 feet tall and 40 pounds, was last seen at 11:45 p.m. Saturday.

About 15 minutes later, Veronica Nava realized her daughter was missing.

Who visits a guy like that late on a Saturday night?
Drugs perhaps?
Is getting high worth risking your own child?????

What struck me was that your host and your child disappear at the same time. I mean, how could they not know that something was happening.

Zamites may have gotten at least a six-hour head start between the time Jesus and Veronica Nava reported their daughter missing from a relative's home on Pratt Reece Road to 7 a.m. Sunday when her body was found in woods a couple hundred yards away.

Hall County Sheriff Steve Cronic said authorities have no clues as to whether Zamites still is in Georgia. "We want every lead," Cronic said, adding that the hunt has been expanded to "every known associate" of Zamites.

Hall authorities could not determine Zamites' criminal history in Mexico. But Cronic said that contact with residents in his native village revealed that "he wasn't a good citizen there."

As the search continued Monday night, Jose Alfaro Flores, a 29-year-old associate of Zamites, remained without bond at the Hall County Detention Center.

Flores, an undocumented Gainesville resident, has been charged with giving police false information and violating immigration laws.

Flores, also known as Jose Delgado, was arrested about 10:30 p.m. Sunday in a red Chevrolet sport utility vehicle. He is suspected of helping Zamites escape.

"He denied any contact (with Zamites) in the last 24 to 36 hours," Cronic said. "We're not sure we're getting all the information."

Hall County Sheriff’s deputies and Georgia State Patrol officers tracked 24-year-old Cornelio Rivera Zamites to a heavily wooded area just 200 yards from where Esmeralda Lopez Nava’s body was discovered last Sunday night. Zamites is scheduled to face a judge at his first court appearance Friday at 1 p.m.

A tip led authorities to suspect Zamites might be hiding in a tree in a rural area located in the 3600 block of Pratt Reece Road.

More than a dozen Sheriff’s deputies and State Patrol officers descended on the area. Zamites was found leaning against a tree by Auston Allen, a Georgia State Patrol cadet.

I hope this monster rots in h*ll :furious:

Hall County Sheriff's Sgt. James Evans testified Friday during the preliminary hearing for 24-year-old Cornelio Rivera Zamites that the suspect had been under investigation for several years by Hall County authorities after two 12-year-old girls accused him of sexual abuse. One of those girls is now 16-years-old, he said.

At the hearing, Hall County Chief Magistrate Margaret Gregory ruled that prosecutors had sufficient DNA evidence to continue holding Zamites on murder, kidnapping and child molestation charges in the death of Esmerelda Nava.

Evans testified that Zamites told police that he carried the girl with one arm and muffled Esmerelda's cries for her daddy with his other hand "until she stopped moving."

The girl disappeared June 25 while her father visited Zamites' single-wide trailer.

She had been waiting in the family's car with her mother. The girl left the vehicle to use a neighbor's bathroom, according to testimony. She left the neighbor's trailer minutes later, but never returned to her family's car.

Police and volunteers scouring the woods behind Zamites' home found the girl's tennis shoe and what they believed was Zamites' red bandanna. The next morning the girl's body was found with her white blouse pulled up to her chest and her pants dragged down to her ankles.
