Well whatever you left, it couldn't have been as bad as this: What was left on the roof of the vehicle was $21,000. It was an armoured truck, picking up cash from Revel's casino in Atlantic City.

'Hours after GardaWorld armored car services made a cash pickup at Revel on Aug. 6, the casino was notified that nearly $21,000 in currency was missing...A review of surveillance video shows the truck leaving the Revel’s porte cochere with the bag on the rear driver’s side roof of the truck at 10:51 a.m.'

It was still there when the truck stopped at the next casino, but fell off somewhere. Nobody knows where, as it hasn't been handed in.

An armoured truck drove past me once, and a huge bunch of keys flew off the roof, at my feet. I chased the truck, but it didn't see me.

I caught the name though, and called the company. They didn't believe me :( but I left my address anyhow. They eventually called round and picked them up. Acted like I'd done it to annoy them?
 
I also managed to travel through three countries with a pair of scissors on the roof once. I had a luggage rack that stopped them sliding off, I guess. The scissors were fine when I found them. The car roof, not so much.
 
I'd been using the scissors to cut tape to stick the side mirror back on, which I'd knocked off, parking. :(
 
All I've ever left on the top of my car were coffee mugs :sigh:

Someone struck it rich, and they didn't have to go to a casino. Do they get to keep the money, or can they be charged with robbery if they don't return the money?

No good deed is left unpunished.

Could be they were just embarrassed. They probably didn't want anyone to know their employee lost a set of keys. Maybe they had the driver backtrack, hoping to find them. Then finally, reluctantly, had to admit their error.

Sounds like you had one of those days when one catastrophe leads to another.

I remember leaving some books on top of my trunk one time, but someone motioned to me as I was about to drive out of the parking lot so I didn't go far.
 
Only coffee cups and 4 cardboard advent calendars I was supposed to sell for Russian Club in HS. I just paid for them; too embarrassed to tell how idiotic I was to my teacher.
 
I think "Finders keepers, losers weepers" should apply here. Besides, how would the person who found the money ever be found?
 
My husband is widely known among family and friends for doing this. He has driven with cups of coffee on his roof many times, and one time, regrettably, he left his Macbook laptop on the roof of a taxi as he was being dropped off at a hotel. Of course when he called the cab co. they had no idea where it was.

When our first child was born, and was only about 3 days old, I had a horribly REAL type of nightmare, that my husband left the baby in the car seat on the roof and was driving down the road. :eek: I woke him up by shaking him and screamed at him ---" DONT YOU DARE EVER PUT THE BABY ON THE CAR ROOF!"

hahahahah Poor guy. He just nodded and rolled over, went back to sleep.
