Why would a deer hop on its back legs?

At first glance, Walt Temple thought the animal he saw hopping through the city was a deer. "But then, why would it be on its back legs?" he wondered.

This is very odd! Especially since there was a kangaroo found in Wisconsin in March. Quite a coinky dink!
