A Brazilian 'all women' town is advertizing for eligible men to come join them, but they have to promise to obey the rules first. The first is that adult husbands and sons have to live and work elsewhere, and can only visit at weekends. The second is that they have to accept that the women rule everything - from agriculture to town planning.
The town was founded in 1891 by a woman who was excommunicated by the Catholic church for leaving the husband she'd been forced to marry. Now the single female residents, though very happy with the way things are run, are finding they are not getting the chance to meet single men they can marry.
'...while none of the residents of Noiva do Cordeiro would have it any other way, it has left them with just one problem.
Nelma Fernandes, 23, admits it's impossible for her neighbours - renowned in the region as strikingly beautiful - to find a would-be spouse.
'Here, the only men we single girls meet are either married or related to us, everyone is a cousin. I haven't kissed a man for a long time,' she said.
'We all dream of falling in love and getting married. But we like living here and don't want to have to leave the town to find a husband.'
Here's the town's Facebook page. It's in Portuguese though, so I've no idea what it says.
