'The bound bodies of two people were found in a Philadelphia river Wednesday, and a third man who said he managed to free himself is being treated at a hospital for stab wounds, police said.'

'The bodies were found in the Schuylkill River in Fairmount Park just before 4 a.m. Wednesday, Chief Inspector Scott Small said.'

The bodies were bound with duct tape and weighted. Police don't even know what gender they are. The man who escaped says he didn't know the victims, they were already in the van when he was abducted and robbed.

Police have no motive other than robbery so far and are hoping surveillance footage from the location of the survivor's abduction will provide clues. The location and identity of the survivor have not been revealed.

'The man told police he had been grabbed a few hours earlier by five men and thrown into the back of a van. Once inside the van, the man said he realized two other victims were already there, bound and it appeared they had been stabbed numerous times.'

'The man told investigators he was blindfolded, bound at the hands and wrists with duct tape, robbed and stabbed multiple times before all three men were driven to the river and thrown into the water where he managed to free himself.'

They now say the two bodies have been identified as men.

What a violent robbery. Im curious if the surivor gave them his bank card. If he did maybe that would be on video also.

So 5 men are involved, geez. Why kudnap them, bound them and then stan them. These crimes are getting worse. Im afraid to go outside.

"The victims were taken off the street by five or six men who are possibly members of an Asian street gang early this morning and thrown into the back of a van, police said. Their hands were tied behind their backs with duct tape and their ankles were bound as well. Duct tape was also placed over their mouths and "their eyes were covered," Clark said."

Three people who were abducted, stabbed, bound with tape and tossed in a Philadelphia river may have been victims of an Asian street gang and the cause of the "barbaric murders" was likely drugs, police said today.

Only one of the three victims survived although he was stabbed nine times in the necks, torso and legs. The other two victims, who police are trying to identify, had their throats slit and their bodies were anchored when they were thrown into the water, according to Philadelphia Police Captain James Clark.

"These three were very much targeted and there is drug nexus," Clark said.

Were these victims known to carry lots of money on them? For five or six men to grab these people and may get only a few dollars or nothing at all seems strange. Maybe there is more going on. This is very scary. Jmo

The two dead men, who were not immediately identified, also suffered multiple stab wounds. Clark said they had been tortured...

At a late-afternoon briefing, Clark said the survivor had not been robbed, and that all three men were together when they were abducted. He said some preliminary information proved to be inaccurate, but he declined to elaborate on what led to the change in the accounts.

The surviving victim, a 23-year-old, was hospitalized in critical condition, and detectives were not immediately able to interview him, Clark said.

That's some scary scary stuff there!

' It’s one of the most barbaric murders Philadelphia homicide detectives say they’ve ever seen.... Police say their throats were slashed.'

'Police say the victims did know each other — although it’s not clear if they knew the suspect(s) — and they are investigating the incident as drug-related.
“These three were very much targeted,” said Captain Clark.'

'“We’re looking for any evidence — any tire tracks, any footprints because it is a dirty, muddy area'

'Detectives say their main source of information will be that surviving victim. He remains in the hospital in critical condition.'

Huge change from the first article. The survivor may not tell all he knows. Jmo

ciao

It does seem a change... the first article seemed to indicate the other two bodies were in some way unrecognizable, even as far as sex.... but - that could just be LE being obscure. But one would think the survivor would state: "that was Bob and Joe" or something. At this point, I suspect drugs and gang activity and therefore there will be no more info from the survivor or he will be sought out as a snitch. Rough place to be in.

no matter what these men were involved in, they did not deserve this. Sad all the way around - the way we (we=humans) sometimes treat each other...

IMO.

that is scary - the two "men" are they related to the 2 boys that were reported missing?

I agree, APG... I certainly did not mean to imply they were any less worthy. I only meant that the survivor is in a difficult position IF the scenario I am imagining is true.

Thanks FL Wannabe - not directed at you or anyone at all, just sharing my sadness in humanity...
