According to Henderson County Sheriff Ray Nutt, on Oct. 3, 2012, Sgt. Thomas Goodell received information that Eustace resident Theodore Ted Hunt, 47, was missing and last seen near his residence around Feb. or March 2011.
Information obtained by investigators led them to believe Hunt's disappearance may have been involuntary.
Hunt's property and surrounding property were searched in an effort to locate him. Two independent search teams provided the Sheriff's Office with search and rescue cadaver dogs and handlers during the initial search. A small lake was also drained on an adjoining property but Hunt was not located.

On Nov. 21, 2013, a house on the Hunt property was being demolished and excavation was being done with heavy equipment. Skeletal remains were found on the property...
The remains were forwarded to the University of North Texas Laboratory of Forensic Anthropology in Denton... Through DNA testing and comparison, the human remains were later confirmed to be those of Theodore Ted Hunt.
Investigators are also actively looking for a vehicle that Hunt was driving prior to his disappearance. That vehicle was believed to have been sold from Hunts property in the months following his disappearance. The vehicle is a 1983 cream-colored Mercury 4 door.
