Harvey Allen Kays was last seen at his residence off Rocky Branch Road in Franklin County, KY on 12 Dec 1988. He was reported missing on 3 Jan 1989. He reportedly left a note saying "Had to Leave". Two of his cars are also missing to this day. One was a 1977 Ford Pick up and the other was a 1983 Winnebago.

According to ky unsolved, he is presumed to be dead/murdered.

This case intertwines with my life in a very odd way. In 1971, he was having an affair with Mary Ann Wyatt who allegedly set fire to Westminster Presbyterian Home killing my great great grandmother, Bessie Anderson Mason, aka Grandmom BAM. 9 others were killed as well in that fire. She was tried but a mistrial was declared and she was never re-tried even though she confessed to setting the fire, she later redacted that statement.

Mary Ann Wyatt and Harvey had a child together but Harvey terminated his rights and to my knowledge never saw the child again.

Harvey then disappears 18 years later?

Please help me to uncover anything we can on this mysterious case.

Yes it's very interesting. Makes me wonder....

The main suspect in HKs murder was Robert Allen Craig who lived off Rocky Branch Road. He died in June of 1989. He ended up with Harvey's two missing vehicles posted above. And actually he ended up with more than just those cars of Harvey's.

All of this info is from Harvey's son who is a PI and is investigating his fathers case.

Story's been updated and it looks like the wallet (if it belongs to the deceased) was "relatively" recent. Gift Certificates (actual piece of paper) were more in use at the time of his disappearance. Not sure when cards started being the norm.

Human remains found in Anderson County (WKYT, Lexington, KY)

At this time, officials are not sure if the body found was that of a man or woman. Investigators are also not sure if the wallet that was found belonged to that victim. They say they found gift cards near the body. They hope to trace them back to their source to give them more clues about who the person could be.

Yes I spoke to Harveys son and he confirmed this was not Harvey. I'm sure it's hard getting his hopes up after all this time

Bumping for Harvey. 43 year anniversary of his disappearance just came and went. So sad.

Harvey's son is still actively searching for his father. If anyone has any information about his whereabouts please let the police know!

I've got to say-this looks VERY promising. It's very close to Rocky brand road where he was last seen.

The wait must be agonizing, especially for Harvey's son.

"It's not known whether the remains were of a man or woman.

"We'll have to wait for a forensics report to come back to see what exactly we're talking about," Melton said.

The state medical examiner's office speculates that it might take weeks to complete a report, Franklin County Coroner Will Harrod said".

This property is 1.5 miles from where Harvey was last seen. Also this farm is connected to the Harvey Kay's case however I'm not at liberty to say why or how.

Addysmom has posted some interesting information. I'm interested in this Robert Allen Craig and Harvey's relationship. I read that they were best friends. I wonder if they were really "best friends" and not lovers. Addysmom posted that Robert Allen Craig ended up with Harvey's two cars and other things. Perhaps in Kentucky, at that time, the general population was accepting of gay people but I suspect gay relationships were something that was frowned upon, like in most of the South and the rest of the country. If they were in a relationship together then they would probably have a circle of friends that were accepting and thought nothing of it which is great and which leads me to believe the circle of friends and acquaintances would not ask a lot of questions if Robert Allen Craig ended up with Harvey's property because otherwise wouldn't people be asking "Why are you driving this missing man's vehicles? Why do you have some of his personal property?" Also, you would have to have an acceptable answer for having Harvey's assets which I presume would be easier if you were intimate with the missing. Addysmom posted that Robert Allen Craig died in 1989. Looking at findagrave.com, I saw a Robert Allen Craig that was born in Frankfort in 1949, which shows that Robert died relatively young. How did he pass away? Was it suicide, accident, etc.? I could not find anything.

Harvey was many things but gay was not one of them. It's an interesting theory but there is NO indication of that. Robert and Harvey were into illegal activities together. They ran with some bad people. Robert was killed when he accidentally electrocuted himself while trying to steal copper. Karma at its best if you ask me. However, he took the location of Harvey's grave with him.
