Biology students from a university outside of North Bay were conducting scientific research in the marsh area, just south of the Highway 11 and 17 bypass in North Bay on Saturday, when they found a shoe they believed contained human remains, police said in a news release.

North Bay officers conducted a wider search and discovered additional remains, which they also believe to be human. The remains have been sent to the Centre of Forensic Science for analysis and confirmation, the release said.

Based on the evidence collected to date, police do not believe the remains belong to either Luke Joly-Durocher or Robert Aho. Joly-Durocher, 21, was last seen in North Bay on March 4, 2011. Aho went missing from the family's cottage in the Marten River area on Oct. 12, 2009.

Robbie Aho is still missing :(

Terry and Pat Aho have pleaded with the public for any information on their son's whereabouts. They organized countless searches in hopes of finding Robbie.

Terry Aho also kicked off a campaign to help introduce legislation that would give police more power to assist in locating a missing person where criminal activity is not considered the cause.

Aho started a petition and collected thousands of signatures encouraging the Ontario government to implement Missing Persons legislation.

And he didn't stop there.

Aho also organized Blue Sky Search and Rescue, a not-for-profit organization that helps provide assistance to families in search of a loved one.

Missing man suffered memory loss | Sudbury Star
''Aho, who would be 35 now, disappeared when he was on a vacation with his family at the Land O'Lakes Trailer Park in Marten River.

Aho is epileptic, but instead of convulsing during a seizure, he suffers from short-term memory loss. His father, Terry Aho, said the memory loss got worse over the years, and by the time he disappeared, days would be erased from his memory whenever he had an epileptic seizure.

The day he disappeared, Aho had a seizure
and his father tried to talk him through the episode. He was not able to help his son and went to get his wife, Patricia Aho, in a nearby trailer, to help him through the seizure. By the time they returned outside, their son had disappeared.

The next week police found some of Robbie Aho's clothing near Marten River, but could not find any sign of him.

The latest tip about Aho's whereabouts came from a man who claimed to be sitting next to him on a Greyhound bus from Thunder Bay to Ottawa. The tipster was headed to Ottawa to pick up a car he had just bought, and said the man he believes to be Aho got off the bus in Sudbury.

It was only on his drive back to Sudbury last week, that the tipster saw a missing person billboard of Aho in Mattawa. "The guy drives by the billboard and says, 'That's the kid I saw on the bus!' " said Terry Aho.

The tipster said his seatmate on the bus was confused, bumped into people and had trouble speaking clearly.''
