Kimberly Cormier, 40, had only minor injuries after she and her boyfriend, James Earl Nicholas, 48, ran from the violent offenders task force Thursday.

The marshals were trying to arrest the couple on a capital murder warrant. Nicholas was killed in the shoot-out. A US Marshal said the suspects fired first.

A Houston woman linked to four slayings will begin trial Wednesday on charges of capital murder, accused of killing a man during a robbery in 2014...

Police have said little about the cases, and even less about a fourth, which was investigated by the Houston Police Department...

Defense attorneys for Cormier are expected to put on testimony that she was a victim of "battered woman syndrome," a condition seen in a woman who has been repeatedly abused by a partner, court filings show.

The trial for Kimberly Nicole Cormier, 41, had been set to start this week but was rescheduled after two days of selection failed to yield a jury of 12 people.

A special "double panel" of 120 potential jurors is scheduled to be called April 26 to hear the case, court officials said.

    From June:

Kimberly Nicole Cormier was sentenced to life in prison without parole after being convicted of capital murder late Friday.

Cormier, 42, was convicted of participating in a "Bonnie and Clyde" crime spree that left four people dead in 2014.

Defense lawyers for 42-year-old had argued she was the victim of her now-dead boyfriend who had forced her to help him steal and kill.
