Kimberly Cormier, 40, had only minor injuries after she and her boyfriend, James Earl Nicholas, 48, ran from the violent offenders task force Thursday.

The marshals were trying to arrest the couple on a capital murder warrant. Nicholas was killed in the shoot-out. A US Marshal said the suspects fired first.

After being arrested, Cormier allegedly confessed to her role in the killings. Authorities said Cormier admitted to participating in the slaying of Bonilla. Prosecutors said Cormier was spotted on surveillance video when Bonilla died.

She also allegedly confessed to participating or being present for several other homicides. Three of the victims were shot to death at their homes.

A Houston woman linked to four slayings will begin trial Wednesday on charges of capital murder, accused of killing a man during a robbery in 2014...

Police have said little about the cases, and even less about a fourth, which was investigated by the Houston Police Department...

Defense attorneys for Cormier are expected to put on testimony that she was a victim of "battered woman syndrome," a condition seen in a woman who has been repeatedly abused by a partner, court filings show.
