" The intruder has been described as a white male, approximately 18 years old, five-foot-five with a thin build and short, dark hair.

Police are reminding the public to make sure all windows and doors are properly secured at night.

''Durham police say an intruder woke up a sleeping woman in Whitby.

The 76-year-old woke up around 3:20 a.m. Sunday to find a man in her home, who demanded her purse.

He took off with the handbag and the woman called 911 in hysterics.

The break-in happened on Hawley Crescent near Rossland Road and Thickson Road.

Police found the man walking around the neighbourhood and he was arrested.

Police believe he was responsible for some break-ins that happened the night before and some mischief in the area.

Tevin Cameron, 22, is facing charges including break and enter, theft of a motor vehicle, theft from a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime, attempted theft, and failing to comply with a probation order.''
