Authorities say missing woman was on her way to shop at Destiny USA
Syracuse, NY – Authorities are looking for a Chenango County woman who has been missing since Tuesday when she told her husband she was driving to Syracuse to shop at Destiny USA.
She was driving a maroon 2006 Chrysler Town and Country minivan with a New York license plate of EFA1962.
Deputies said Ramsaran may have changed her hair color and style before she left. Her cell phone was found Wednesday on State Route 23 in the Town of Plymouth.
Deputies ask that anyone with information about Ramsaran call them at 607-334-2000 and push option 1.

Social Networks
Regarding Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and other social networking or blog websites: Links may be used to direct posters to view something on a social networking page. But postings on social networking sites are not considered fact; they are rumor. Copying and pasting, or taking screen caps, directly from these pages is not allowed. Paraphrasing is okay. (Exception: If the Twitter or Facebook post belongs to a verified news station, it may be copied. But a link should still be provided.)
Also, social networking pages may only be linked if they are directly related to a case, i.e. the victim or suspect. We don't want to post to someone's mother, brother, employer, milkman, or postal carrier just because they know the main player. We also NEVER link to minor's pages (unless they are the victim). And be sure that the page actually belongs to the person being discussed. Do not link to someone if you are not 100% sure it is the correct person. And if a social networking is set to private and you get in the back way, you may not post what you find. Private means private!

Husband of Jennifer Ramsaran charged with murder in her death
38-year-old Genesh Remy Ramsaran, of Sheff Road, is charged with second degree murder in connection with the death of his wife, Jennifer Ramsaran, who had been missing for several months when her body was found in the Town of Pharsalia.
Genesh Ramsaran was arraigned in Chenango County Court and sent to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $150,000 cash bail.

Evidence produced by state:
1. Motive
a. Obsession w/ E. Sayles
i. Called Sayles 2,480 times from prison in 2013
ii. "You know I would have done everything and anything for you, and for us to be together” (email sent to ES 1 week before murder
iii. GR & ES broke up end of Nov., but got together again on 12/10, day before Jen was murdered
b. Life insurance policy - $100,000; $200,000 if homicide
c. Discussed consequences of divorce w/ friend – child support & maybe alimony to Jen, would probably lose children and house. Jen knew about affair; had contacted an attorney

2. Alibi fell flat
a. Wasn’t really working on IBM job when he said he was that morning
b. Didn’t really run to the YMCA from his home

3. Lied repeatedly to investigators (and family)
a. Told investigators Jen had gone shopping in Syracuse; later testimony revealed Jen’s van had mechanical problems – the shopping trip was being planned later that week w/ ES, using ES’s car. Jen told her online friend that morning she was going to the bank for the money order, that she was going shopping later that week.
b. Told police Jen left to go shopping between 10 and 10:30 that morning; investigation showed her phone connected to the home’s wireless router at 10:57
c. Told police that when he got home (around 8) that morning from taking the kids to school, Jen was sitting in her bathrobe eating yogurt. But evidence showed she was playing game online and chatting w/ gaming friend and suddenly disappeared from online at 8:15
d. State of their marriage
1. First day told police they had a “perfect marriage” – had not had a fight in 2 weeks; marriage had never been better
2. Next day introduced his mistress; accused Jen on an online affair.
3. Told police Jen didn’t know about affair; evidence produce text messages indicating Jen was aware – spoke of ES as GR’s “trophy wife”
e. Told police he was working on his computer that morning; evidence showed his computer was idle from 8:15 AM to 10:54 AM
f. Told police he ran from home to YMCA at mid-day. No security cameras showed him passing by on the route he gave police. Later, changed his story, and gave a different route. No cameras showed him on that route either. Rather, camera showed him approaching Y from west (direction of apartments where van was left)
g. Told investigators and Jen’s family that she was a drug addict (no drugs found in tox screen)
h. Said he never touched Jen’s phone, but actually touched the snapchat, which took a photo

4. Bizarre & Inappropriate Behavior just after Jen went missing
a. Didn’t invite ES in for sex when she gave him a ride home day of murder; would have almost surely taken advantage of Jen being “out of town shopping” if that really was the case
b. Unusually upset when called police night Jen went missing – said something terrible must have happened to her as she’d have never left him or the children
c. Next day, spoke calmly with close friend Jason on phone; chatted 5 minutes before mentioning Jen was missing
d. Next day, found phone, even when police had already searched that area and not seen it. The phone was in a spot where couldn’t be readily seen from bridge, but GR spotted it miraculously. The phone was undamaged, not a scratch, even though it had allegedly fallen or been thrown 30 feet from the bridge unto a rocky area.
e. GR’s parents arrived the day after Jen went missing. GR told them, “I don’t want you here; go home!”
f. Jen’s parents arrived two days after Jen went missing. GR told them Jen had left with another man. Screamed at Jen’s parents and sister that she had betrayed him; told them his mistress was a better Mom than Jen ever was
g. Didn’t want Jen’s sister to look for Jennifer
h. Remy’s friend Jason bought plane tickets to come up to NY when Jen went missing to help find her; Remy got angry and told him not to come
i. Five days after Jen went missing, propositioned banker for 3-way tryst
j. Within first week Jen went missing, told ES’s parents he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her; no mention of Jen. ES’s stepfather said GR seemed more concerned about Eileen than his missing wife.
k. In first week after Jen went missing, wrote on his FB page that the first funeral he would ever attend would be his wife’s
l. In first week after Jen went missing, tried to show Jen’s mother nude photos of Jen, insinuating that she was sending nude photos to other women. Trial demonstrated that the nude photos were on GR’s computer and phone, along with some of them together, and also some of E. Sayles. The photos were for him/some by him and/or of him. Both ES’s photos and JR’s photos around Halloween 2012.
m. Repeatedly told Jen’s parents that she was on drugs – a drug addict.
n. GR's mistress testified he never looked for Jen; he was controlling and manipulative -- changed her mailing address without her permission, was verbally abusive, screamed at her. Taped phone called recorded GR telling his mistress that Jen was a drug addict, and had been having an affair with another guy for 1 year and a half.
o. Four days after Jen went missing, Inspector Powell reported that in interview, GR more concerned about public finding out about his affair than the fact that his wife was missing

5. Forensics & such
a. Jennifer victim of homicide; Jenn's body showed pre-death injuries: external bruising & lacerations; internal bleeding & hemorrhages, including bleeding under the skin on the left side of her skull and a hemorrhage on the back of her skull that shows she was struck in the head.; ruled out the possibility of natural causes of death or a drug overdose. Condition of the body was consistent with her dying on 12/11/12; moved after death; no logical reason for an otherwise healthy woman to be left naked on side of remote road other than homicide
b. Jennifer’s blood on floor of van between back seats. Spots of it in front of van.
c. Remy & Jen’s blood found mixed together on sweatshirt Remy wore that day
d. Little or no snow under Jen’s body. Left there before snow started later that week
e. Mud splatters indicate van used to dispose of Jen’s body on day she went missing. Raining that day; dry next 5 days until van found.

6. No other suspects; no one else who disliked Jen or wanted her dead

Defense
1. Police bungled job
2. Only looked at GR; didn’t look at anyone else
3. GR couldn’t have disposed of the phone, Jen’s body, left the van at the apartments and gotten to the Y in just 74 minutes. (actually, ORR already proved it could be done in less than an hour; I think prosecution has made that clear with their maps – hope so!!)

Suspect declines to testify in murder trial

By Joe Mahoney Staff Writer

NORWICH — Accused murderer Ganesh “Remy” Ramsaran declined to take the witness stand in his own defense as testimony concluded Wednesday in his trial on a charge of second-degree murder stemming from the December 2012 death of his wife, Jennifer.

With the jury being kept of the courtroom, Ramsaran, 39, advised Chenango County Judge Frank Revoir Jr. that he understood he has a constitutional right to testify but was opting to waive that right after conferring with his defense lawyer, Gil Garcia.

Not only did Ramsaran opt to stay clear of testifying, but his lawyer elected to present no witnesses whatsoever.

As for not testifying, Ramsaran agreed when Garcia told Revoir that he had advised his client to give “strong consideration” to testifying.

Well, he finally put his intelligence to work. Probably too late in the day. And...what would he testify to if on the stand? Virtually everything he told police before has been proven untrue. So, he'd have to make up some completely new story and admit he lied before...and...what would that story be? How could he explain all his previous lies?

:judge:
Garcia’s request for a directed verdict of acquittal triggered a debate with District Attorney Joseph McBride, with the two courtroom foes winding up into a nutshell critique of each other’s cases.

Garcia maintained that the police evidence shepherded into the courthouse by McBride was too weak to support a finding that his client is guilty as charged.

McBride countered that Jennifer Ramsaran’s death was ruled a homicide and that the evidence pointing to Ganesh Ramsaran, replete with what the prosecutor said was a series of falsehoods to investigators, was convincing.

“The record is clear, with piles of evidence, that the defendant had motives to kill his wife. Because he had a girlfriend, he was facing a divorce, he wanted to make sure that he didn’t lose all his assets and his ability to keep his house, which he thought was just his and his alone and for his girlfriend,” said McBride.

Noting that “people don’t kill each other in front of movie cameras,” McBride said there is “overwhelming circumstantial evidence” fingering Ramsaran as the culprit in his wife’s murder.

The judge said ample evidence was presented to warrant the case going to the jury.
