OR - Lori Rothrock, 38, brutally murdered, Roseburg, 16 Sept 2014

John Flannigan, 27, of Roseburg, was booked into the Douglas County Jail on murder charges Tuesday afternoon shortly after officers served a search warrant at his house off SE Ohio Street.

The incident started about 3 a.m. Tuesday when Lori Lynn Rothrock, 38, of Roseburg, was found dead at the Fast Stop Market & Deli, Roseburg Police Sergeant Aaron Dunbar said.

"A customer saw her down on the floor," said Sgt. Dunbar. "It was called in as a medical aid call. When officers arrived it was determined to be a homicide."

The man accused of killing a Roseburg convenience store clerk by beating her with a mallet and stabbing her did not know her, but he told investigators he hated her, police said...

In an affidavit, police say the video shows Flannigan walking behind the counter and then repeatedly stabbing the 38-year-old. He then beat her in the head with a mallet, even after she stopped moving, authorities said.

Police say they arrested Flannigan at his home, where they found a bloody mallet hidden in his bed, and a knife in another room. When he was arrested, Flannigan was wearing the same clothing he had on in the surveillance video at the market, police said.

A man charged with murder in connection with a homicide at the Fast Stop Market in Roseburg was in court Wednesday where the judge set a trial date in January of 2016.
