Heather Tackett says she didn’t know who the person was behind the Insane Clown Posse mask, standing with a knife over her 17-year-old son in her Prairie Township living room just after 4 a.m. on Sunday.

She screamed at the intruder, clutching her boyfriend’s .38 revolver. Tackett fired one shot, she recalled, before the intruder fled through her backyard.

It wasn’t until hours later — on Sunday afternoon — that Franklin County deputies came to her house and she discovered the person she’d shot was a teenage boy who’d been friends with her son. She had fed him dinner; he’d stayed overnight in her home.

Franklin County detectives say four teens plotted to burglarize a home in Galloway and now, one is dead and the three others are charged with his murder.

Shortly after five Sunday morning, 18-year-old Adam Pickens dialed 911. “Hello, I have a shot friend... I don't want to get him in trouble. I don't know how it happened. He came in the front door, to be honest, he came in the front door with a gun wound and we are trying to stop the bleeding, and he is lying on the floor and I don’t know what happened, I think he is dying and I would like some help please”...

Sherriff Zach Scott says Pickens tried to make up a story during the 911 call because he didn’t know what to do. Those decisions, Scott says, sealed their fate. “They went out to commit a crime and someone got killed and they were trying to cover their tracks and, during this time period, somebody dies.”

I have been following this case from the beginning. Just a sad situation all around.

Can't find any updates since Pickens was indicted shortly afterward.

Pickens and two juveniles, Brandon J. Hamilton and Tyler R. Blazer, both 17, were charged with delinquency counts of murder and aggravated burglary.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff Zach Scott, the three assisted 17-year-old Reb Barbee, a senior at Hilliard Bradley High School, with forcibly entering a residence in the 8700 block of Hubbard Drive at about 4 a.m. Sept. 14.

Homeowner Heather Tackett, 37, told police Barbee's entry into the house through a second-floor window awakened her and she saw a masked intruder carrying a knife. Tackett fired one shot from a .38-caliber pistol and struck Barbee in the back of his shoulder, Scott said.
