GUILTY OK - Boy, 5, dies after mom's BF sets Tulsa house on fire, 16 Sept 2014

A Tulsa man remains in jail, accused of setting his girlfriend's house on fire and fatally injuring a 5-year-old boy who was inside...

Currently, Steven Clement is facing four complaints including: one first degree arson complaint, two child abuse complaints, and one child neglect complaint. Clement is in the Tulsa County jail with a $250,000 bond. He is due in court on Tuesday, September 23rd.

According to reports, Clement was sending threatening text messages telling his girlfriend, the mother of the four kids who also lived at the home, that he was going to burn the house down, then telling her that the house was on fire and asking if she had insurance. Investigators said she wasn't there at the time of the fire... she was driving back from a trip to Wichita, Kansas.

When firefighters got on the scene they said a 19-year-old and a nine-year-old were outside in the yard, an 11-year-old was on the front porch and a 5-year-old was still inside the burning home.

"We had to go in and continue the search, actually had to pull out of the house and make entry through one of the bedroom windows to find the child," said Captain Stan May with the Tulsa Fire Department.

District Judge William LaFortune sentenced 36-year-old Steven Lewis Clement to life without parole for first-degree murder during the commission of arson, and ordered it to run concurrently with another life sentence for endangering human life during arson.

Clement waived his right to a jury trial and pleaded guilty to the charges Sept. 1.
