Police responded to the scene of a stabbing complaint early Friday morning in Hubbell. At 3:30 a.m., police arrived at the home of a 48-year-old woman to find her dead and the womans 14-year-old daughter alive but suffering multiple stab wounds.
Police reported the suspect, a 42-year-old male whose name is being withheld pending arraignment, attempted to flee the scene in the woods by the house, but he was located and taken into custody around 5:30 Friday morning...
Police say the 14-year-old girl was transported from Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital to Marquette General Hospital in serious condition; however, police reported she was the one who called 911 and was coherent when police arrived at the scene to give a statement and assist in locating the suspect.

Paul David Moilanen, 42, of Hubbell is charged with second-degree murder and attempted murder in connection with the early Friday morning incident.
Houghton County Sheriffs deputies were called to a home around 3:30 a.m. and found Marcy Lavigne, 48, had been stabbed to death. Her 14-year-old daughter also suffered from multiple stab wounds, but is expected to recover.
Officials say Moilanen was Lavignes boyfriend. He remains lodged in the Houghton County Jail on a $2.5 million cash bond.
