Who is Jesse Leroy Matthew, Jr.? What do we know about him?

I'll move posts over from other threads to get this one started. Please feel free to add.

NOTE: DO NOT post personal information about his family and friends
 
Given what we are learning about JLM Jr, does anyone think that he will admit to anything, ever? If he is linked genetically to any of the open cases, that we are aware of, does anyone think that he will tell where the remains can be found?

I don't get the impression that he will give any details. Yesterday, I was leaning toward some joker that just snaps but after seeing his demeanor in court, seeing so many possible links (here on this thread) and the reports of the dismissed sexual assault at LU; I am almost 100% over feeling that he might have a conscience.

Two things give me a bit of hope he may. I'm in no way convinced he will, but I do think that these two points are ones that we don't see in all cases, and so am trying to be hopeful it's a possibility.

First, he apparently does have some degree of faith background. Now not that people of faith don't murder, and not that he's shown himself to have a track record of making right choices, but a "come to Jesus" conversation with a pastor, or the actual football coach from the Christian school, or just someone else he respects makes me think there's a possibility he might.

Second - and the bigger hope to me - is that in at least one past case, he did something bad, then became very contrite and wanted to make things right (the lawyer/assault/phone thing from 2009).

I'm hoping it means there's a chance that he'll have another instance of being contrite and wanting to make things right/better - and in this case, the only thing I see that possibly being would be leading them to her and telling what happens.

I do think that if they find evidence of him being involved in other cases that he'd much more likely lead them to Hannah. Perhaps we'd see a variation of what happened in the John Gardner case.

JG led them to Amber's remains and was offered a plea deal. He was convicted for killing Chelsea King and Amber Dubois both, but they didn't seek the death penalty in exchange for leading them to Amber. He's serving two life sentences with no possibility of parole.

The problem is that some people like that who are viewed by their church-going counterparts as a good person, have a lot invested in how they look to them. So, they will keep up the lie AT ALL COSTS... I'd rather know a non-church-going HONEST person, than a church-going DISHONEST person.
 
Has a photo of JM from the 2005 timeframe been posted? Could it be that in the ensuing nine years after his football days ended he gained weight? Also, this question may already have been asked but are his dreadlocks weaves or his real hair?
 
If JM was truly of marginalized intelligence, it's hard to believe that CNU would have admitted him, even with his athletic capabilities, and UVA would hire him to work in their surgical area? Opinions?

A lot of people graduate HS without knowing the basics these days. Pressure is on teachers to pass kids and not have the school itself labeled as failing. I know teachers in NYC and Newark NJ who have been ordered in clear terms not to fail anyone. Sad.

Here is a summary of the traffic and criminal cases for JM that are publicly available from Virginia's Online Case Information System for Albermarle and Charlottesville courts. Except for the incidents in bold on 6/4/2009 and 3/17/2010, these look to be traffic citations. Other sources have reported that: (1) the 6/4/2009 incident was a road rage incident where JM later drove the victim to the hospital and (2) the 3/17/2010 incident occurred at an auto repair shop when JM demanded his money back for unsatisfactory service.

Here is a summary of the civil cases where JM was the defendant in Albermarle and Charlottesville courts. These are also publicly available from Virginia's Online Case Information System. It looks like Warrant in Debt means the defendant is being sued for money. Garnishment appears to mean that they are trying to take the judgment directly from the defendant's paycheck. In the garnishment cases, the garnishee is usually the defendant's employer. The garnishees are in bold.

Liebling, you're my favorite! I knew there were more but couldn't find the countny! But I do think the list is complete now... unless he has civil cases in other VA counties, oy!

Okay, there's a couple civil cases in Newport News, including one unlawful detainer (i.e., eviction), from 2004/2005 under the name Jesse Matthews Jr. I'm not going to cite them here because of that extra "s." There's nothing else on the cases, unfortunately, that I can use to check if it's a misspelling or a totally different person.
 
I was thinking about all JM has gotten away with and I'm not even referring to the rape accusation, but his long history of disregarding the law and manipulating the courts and getting away with it. I wonder if his persona in court was sheer stunned disbelief.

I do not think he will admit to anything, either. I hope against hope he will, for the sake of her family. Perhaps if he offered a plea deal in exchange. . .

The Crocs? Looks like he's wearing them in both images, except the ones from the Charlottesville camera appear darker in color. (btw, now that I know he was wearing a blue/white shirt, I can see that it's obvious he wasn't wearing a white shirt in the first shot)

re: Detective Klimpt's post about people not seeing the good in JLM:

On the contrary, I think people were very willing to see the good in JLM initially — but a lot of negative history (rape accusation, assault charge, etc.) and behavior (for example, w/other women that same night) has since been revealed. None of which fits the "gentle giant" / "teddy bear" description some have made him out to be.

Then there's the fact that he has refused to talk at all with LE and fled to TX.... despite having been the last person seen with Hannah.
