Update: Suspicious death, Coomera

Detectives investigating the suspicious death of 37-year-old Mark Emanuel Spencer at Coomera yesterday are appealing for public assistance into the matter.

Just before 4am yesterday, the man was found deceased at the back of his Foxwell Road residence.

Investigators are seeking CCTV footage from anyone who lives in Coomera Waters or on Foxwell Road at Coomera which may have captured vehicle or pedestrian movements between midnight and 4am on Wednesday October 1, 2014.

Anyone with CCTV footage or any other information which could assist in the investigation is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Forensic police remain at the scene today and investigations are continuing.

Police have released the name of a 37-year-old man who was found deceased at a house at Coomera in the early hours of this morning.

Police have identified the deceased as Mark Emanuel Spencer.

Mr Spencer was located by his housemate on the back porch of his Foxwell Road home with head injuries shortly before 4am this morning.

Police continue to appeal for any information from the public about Mr Spencer’s death including any suspicious activity in the Foxwell Road area overnight.

Anyone with information which could assist with this matter should contact Crime Stoppers anonymously via 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.com.au 24hrs a day.

Friends, relatives say murdered Coomera man Mark ‘Zeb’ Spencer lived life to the fullest

THE heartbroken parents of Mark “Zeb” Emanuel Spencer will travel to the Gold Coast today after their son’s body was discovered yesterday.

Mr Spencer’s housemate found the father-of-two dead on the back porch of their rural Coomera property in the early hours of the morning after he was apparently bashed to death.

Police were called to a Foxwell Road address about 4am and found Mr Spencer unconscious, not breathing and with serious head injuries.

Attempts to revive the 37-year-old were unsuccessful and detectives and forensic officers quickly secured the scene with homicide investigators also on site

Police want to hear from anyone who was in the area or saw vehicles acting suspiciously between 12am and 4am on Wednesday October 1.

UPDATE: THE parents of murdered Coomera man Mark “Zeb” Spencer are pleading with the public to help catch their son’s killer.

Mr Spencer was found dead on his back porch on Foxwell Rd by his housemate on Wednesday morning.

Julie and Peter Spencer travelled from Nowra, on the NSW south coast, to meet with detectives and make an emotional plea for information this afternoon.

“We’ve come a long way up here to hopefully see a resolve and take our boy home,” Peter Spencer said.

“Any snippet of information no matter how small could maybe help.”

Yesterday one of Mr Spencer’s best friends brought with her a miniature motorcycle which had been welded into a letterbox.

Mourners were asked to fill it with letters about Mr Spencer which will one day be passed on to his two children.

Mr Spencer’s ashes will be returned to Nowra, New South Wales and a second service held there at a later date.

Update 3: Murder Investigation, Coomera

Detectives have identified a vehicle of interest during their investigation into the murder of 37-year-old Mark Emanuel Spencer in Coomera last month.

Mr Spencer was located by his housemate on the back porch of his Foxwell Road home with head injuries shortly before 4am on October 1.

A dark coloured 2008 or 2009 Ford Falcon sedan was seen on Foxwell Road and Hope Island Road at Coomera between 3am and 4am on the morning of the murder. The vehicle was last seen on Hope Island Road, heading towards Runaway Bay.

It is believed the driver of the vehicle was female and that there was a male in the front passenger seat.

Anyone who may have seen the vehicle or has any information which could assist with the investigation is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

I drive up to Hope Island Road to my partners work, I'll keep an eye out. Ill probably think every black car is suspicious though

A man accused of rape was granted bail after a magistrate described by police as lenient commented that it was unusual he wore condoms during the alleged offence.

A 33-year-old mother of three, Peta Lorang-Goubran, and her 28-year-old partner Mark Dayney, both from the Gold Coast suburb of Coombabah, were later charged with murder. They are currently in custody.

Superintendent David Hutchinson said Mr Spencer had responded to an ad which purported to be for the woman’s sexual services. Police alleged when Lorang-Goubran turned up to meet Mr Spencer she was with Dayney and they assaulted Mr Spencer with a baseball bat.

“They would advertise on Craigslist online and they would advertise in a manner which reflected an offering of sexual services,” Superintendent Hutchinson told Fairfax at the time. “They then had a plan to go to the client’s residence and actually rob that person.

A prostitute who was involved in a “cynical” ploy to rob a ‘Craigslist’ client has been jailed for seven years over the man’s violent death.

Magistrate Kay Philipson committed Dayney to stand trial for Mr Spencer’s murder at the end of the trial on Wednesday.

She said he will face the Supreme Court in Brisbane on a date to be decided by the Department of Public Prosecutions.

An armed robber who bashed dead a Gold Coast ice dealer during a violent home invasion has been jailed for life.

Mark Dayney was on Tuesday found guilty of murdering Mark Spencer at his home in the early hours of October 1, 2014.
