Daryl is a construction worker. His older brother Douglas last saw him walking home from work in Dunbar on Oct. 1... The next morning, Daryl's family says he called his boss, but was told he wasn't needed that day, so he went to do another job for someone else.

Family members have been told by investigators that a cell phone tower was able to show he traveled along I-77 north in the Eden's Fork area, but there's no record of his phone being used since...

Smith is approximately 6 feet tall and weighs about 210 pounds. He has medium-brown skin, brown eyes and a shaved head.

According to deputies with the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office, the case of Daryl A. Smith, who was reported missing on October 7 by his family, is now being investigated as a homicide.

Cpl. Brian Humphreys said Tuesday that numerous search warrants have been executed and evidence has been collected. As a result, they do have a person of interest in this case. Details surrounding that person of interest are not being released. At this point, no arrests have been made.

Smith has not been found.

Bumping for Daryl.

One year after a Dunbar man went missing, there are still no signs of where he may be, and nobody has been arrested in his disappearance.

Daryl’s brothers say they don’t hold out hope that he will be found alive. However, they are still hoping that he is found and brought back to his family.

“We do desperately need him home to put him to rest with the rest of our family that we have. The sooner the better,” said Doug Smith. “Another cold season ... I can't imagine him laying out in the woods without a proper burial. So, we just want him home."
