The Kent County Sheriff’s Office has arrested six people in connection with the killing of a Spencer Township man

Brent Luttrell, 34, was shot, stabbed and left to die alongside the road after a home invasion at his home on Pinewood Street just east of Lincoln Lake Avenue in the early morning hours of Sept. 8...

Residents of the home heard the commotion of the suspects breaking in and Luttrell went outside to investigate. He was confronted by at least one of the suspects in the yard. Investigators believe Luttrell was forced into a getaway vehicle, described as a red passenger vehicle, which had potentially two additional suspects inside. Luttrell’s body was found in the middle of Lincoln Lake Avenue, just a few hundred feet from his home. He had multiple gunshot and stab wounds.

Exactly two weeks before he was shot and stabbed to death, Brent Luttrell was reportedly threatened by a man named Chris Duncan - a man police believe had a hand in planning the home invasion that ultimately led to Luttrell's death.

Duncan, 29, of Lakeview, now faces charges of conspiracy to commit first-degree home invasion in the episode that led to Luttrell's Sept. 8 death. Duncan allegedly sent a photo of Luttrell’s vehicle to him on Aug. 25, according to a personal protection order petition filed by the mother of Duncan's child...

“Ya’ll need to find a (different) place to park Brent’s car,” the text read. “Would be (bad) if something happened to it. There’s crazy people all over that town. There’s people watching it (though). Shouldn’t have anything to worry about huh?”

Last week, six people were arrested and charged in connection to the break-in and murder: Zachary Bennett, Kevin Berry, Chris Duncan, Isaac Fezzey, Jaman Parish, and Tyler Rohn.

Bennett, Berry, and Rohn spoke to 24 Hour News 8 Sunday from the Kent County Correctional Facility Sunday. They told a story of drugs and money that unexpectedly turned to murder...

Rohn said he was the driver and waited outside Luttrell’s Pinewood Street house during the break-in. He said he was surprised to see Luttrell running toward him after he had been shot and stabbed... He said Luttrell asked him to take him to the hospital. “He latches on to the side of the car and I panic and try to take off,” he said. Rohn said he drove away with Luttrell hanging onto his car. Eventually, Luttrell fell off. “I knew he was dead. He went down and he didn’t move,” Rohn said.

The man who police say masterminded a home invasion in northeastern Kent County that ended in a murder has entered a plea. Wednesday afternoon, Christopher Duncan pleaded guilty to second-degree home invasion and lying to a peace officer during a violent crime investigation...

Duncan denied involvement during a jailhouse interview, saying he had “nothing to do” with the break-in or homicide. He admitted that he and Luttrell had been “beefing” because Luttrell had started dating Duncan’s ex-girlfriend, but that he never wanted Luttrell dead.

Duncan, 29, was originally charged with conspiracy to commit home invasion. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 13.

One of six men charged in the September death of a Spencer Township man was sentenced to prison Tuesday, but the sentence apparently did not sit well with the victim's family.

Relatives of Brent Luttrell, who was beaten, stabbed and shot Sept. 8, caused a commotion outside of Kent County Circuit Court Judge Donald Johnston's 11th floor courtroom following the sentencing for 29-year-old Christopher Paul Duncan...

Duncan, 29, was sentenced to 7 to 22 ½ years in prison for home invasion. Investigators say he helped coordinate the Sept. 8 raid at Luttrell's home on Pinewood Street NE, believing Luttrell had $80,000 in money and drugs stashed inside. That was not the case.
