MacCrossen came to Gainesville to take care of some unfinished business. She was returning for a court date but didn't make it there...

"I was speaking to her on the bus ride to Florida and I talked to her the night before she was supposed to arrive in Florida and she said 'ok I love you i'll call you tomorrow after court and let you know what happened' and I haven't heard from her since," says Jennifer Wiegand, Heather's cousin.

MacCrossen lived in Newberry, Florida at the time of her disappearance. She was last heard from on August 17, 2007, when she called her mother in Michigan and said she was at a Greyhound bus stop in Gainesville, Florida. MacCrossen never contacted her family again. They reported her missing in December of that year...

She had a violent relationship with her boyfriend, Adrelo Lasuard Witcher, and he was allegedly very controlling of her. Shortly before her disappearance, MacCrossen fled to Michigan and arrived at a relative's home with two black eyes. After spending a month in Michigan, she returned to Florida to deal with a misdemeanor traffic ticket. She called her family from the Gainesville bus station to tell them she'd arrived safely, and this was the last time they heard from her. She failed to appear in court to answer to the traffic charge and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Witcher is also connected to the disappearance of Kamrie Mitchell in 2012:

It seems that the main POI in this case is emerging as a possible serial killer suspect. The following story contains the interesting paragraph;

"During their investigation, deputies uncovered a connection between Witcher and other missing persons cases - including the disappearance of his ex-girlfriend Heather Maccrossen of Newberry."

It seems that the boyfriend of Heather, Andrelo Witcher, who is linked to the Kamrie Mitchell case on most sites, also has links to other cases since the word 'including' requires multiple links. It would be very interesting to know how many other cases LE have linked him to and which ones.

Atkinson said that McCrossen filed several police reports detailing black eyes, a broken bones. On one occasion in 2007, Atkinson said that McCrossen was kidnapped and locked in a hotel room. She was tied to a bed for days, while repeatedly being beaten and raped...

Detective Allen is confident his case will stick, "Manslaughter is an easier case to prove in a homicide without a body, all we have to prove is that it was an act by the defendant and unjustified. Both mothers of both victims, Heather McCrossen and Kamrie Mitchell are relieved and optimistic that, if and when we convict him, maybe he will talk and maybe we can get their daughters back for decent burial and bring them home."

Andrelo Witcher is set to be arraigned May 16th in a Columbia County Courthouse.

Good news that LE are charging Witcher, but I still wonder which other cases they may be considering as linked to him (other than MacCrossen and Mitchell), given the quote in #3 above. I wonder if they have looked at him for Shirlene Roberts (http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...Doneta-Roberts-23-Jacksonville-11-Sept-2009); her address was only 1km from Witcher in Jacksonville, they may have moved in similar drug circles and - I think - he was out of prison when she disappeared. Add the fact that she has never been found like MacCrossen and Mitchell and she seems worth another look.

Starting Monday, Witcher, who was charged in 2016 with one count of manslaughter in connection to MacCrossen’s death, will go on trial at the Alachua County courthouse.

Both sides expect to make opening arguments Tuesday.
