MS - Brittany Gill, 26, found decapitated, Amite County, 27 Oct 2014

Gillís body was found Monday afternoon and was identified by her tattoos and fingerprints at the state crime lab.

Officials did not say where Gill was found because they are still investigating where she was killed and are looking at multiple sites, according to Amite County Coroner William Sharp.

We're told by family that police were led to Brittany Gill's body, possibly by the man she was dating.

At this point, police aren't releasing who they have in custody. However, they do tell us that Gill's body was dumped miles from where she died.

On her way to the sheriff's office, Gill's mother obtained a phone number she thought was for the boyfriend but ended up being his mother and called her. "The boy's mama said there had been an accident and they needed to go to the sheriff's department," said Montgomery.

Gill's mother contacted the sheriff's department inquiring about a possible accident, but they had no report of any accident when they got there. Shortly after they arrived at the headquarters, the boyfriend and his parents arrived as well.

The boyfriend, who is not yet listed by the Amite County Jail as being in custody, told police that Gill had accidentally been killed at an oil well site. Her boyfriend then took the authorities to several other oil well sites.

The Woodville Republican, quoting Wilkinson County Coroner Travis Sharp, said the head was found at an oil well site near Crooked Creek Road on Monday.

Authorities aren't saying whether they believe the head belongs to a headless body of a woman that was found Monday at another oil well site in Amite County. The head and body were found about 30 miles apart...

Whittington reportedly works for an oil company, and told lawmen he was on the job performing some kind of well maintenance when Gill died. Wroten said Whittington told authorities that her death was accidental, and occurred after she came into contact with well machinery.

Man pleads guilty in corpse desecration case

Whittington pleaded guilty last week to charges of desecration of a human corpse and tampering with physical evidence. He will serve five years, officials said.

The Enterprise-Journal's Karen Freeman reports that Circuit Judge Al Johnson sentenced Whittington to serve three years on the desecration count and two for evidence tampering. He will serve the sentences consecutively without parole or probation eligibility, and the time will run consecutively with any other sentences he is given concerning drug charges he faces in Pike County.

    Way down south.
I have a feeling the outcome would've been way different if Justin wasn't from Amite County.
