GUILTY Hong Kong - Jesse Ruri, 29, & Sumarti Ningsih, 25, murdered, Wan Chai, 31 Oct 2014

He's believed to work for a 'top tier, global bank'. And the women are reported to have been sex workers.

'Police found the women in an apartment block in the Wan Chai district after a call from the man at 03:42 local time (19:42 Friday GMT).
One woman, aged 25-30, was found dead with neck injuries in a suitcase. The other, with cut wounds, died at the scene after police arrived.
The man has been detained "for enquiries," the police said.'

The apartment's at 60 Johnston Rd. One victims was bound and gagged. It sounds as though they were tortured, and at least one was there a long while - neighbors noticed a foul smell.

I wonder if there are any more victims out there.....?

S. China Morning Post says Junior expat bankers live in the apartments.

'The first victim, aged between 25 and 30, was found naked in the living room with knife wounds to her neck and buttocks.
“Two cut wounds were found in her neck and her throat was slashed,” the source said. She was pronounced dead by police.

About eight hours later, the naked body of another woman, thought to be Indonesian and aged 25, was found wrapped in a carpet inside a black suitcase on the flat’s balcony.

“She was nearly decapitated and her hands and legs were bound with ropes. She was naked and wrapped in a towel before being stuffed into the luggage,” the source said. Her passport was found at the scene'

Suspect is 29 years old, lives in an apartment in J Residence, Johnstone Road, Wan Chai District, and works for a global bank. Wonder if that's HSBC? One victim was found in a suitcase on the balcony, it's been reported. May not be accurate though.

ETA: Yes it is. Photo of the trunk in an ambulance. These sound horrific murders.

Ouch, it says the scene was very bloody. He had committed the first murder 3- 4 days prior. Sounds as if he called the police himself? Very sad, and if he wasn't such a mess himself, he would have never been caught.

Police say cocaine was found in the apartment too. it's sounding like that horrible book, American Psycho. :(

Someone finally woke the DM up....

BREAKING NEWS: British banker arrested for murder after woman's naked body is found
with throat slashed and second female corpse found stuffed in suitcase in Hong Kong flat

⁍ A 29-year-old man is being held after bodies of two women found today
⁍ One woman had wounds to neck and buttock and declared dead at scene
⁍ Body of second victim was inside suitcase on balcony of Hong Kong flat
⁍ It is believed the women were sex workers of South East Asian ethnicity
⁍ Early investigations suggest they were killed days apart at banker's flat
⁍ CCTV showed women and suspect returning to flat at around midnight
⁍ A small amount of cocaine was reportedly discovered in the living room

He is being named as Rurik George Caton Jutting now. Quit his job at Merill Lynch the day before the bodies were discovered.

'Jutting is a Cambridge University graduate, his online profile pages suggest. He previously worked for Barclays in London, where he later joined Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

He moved to Hong Kong last year to continue working for the same bank in structured equity finance and trading, according to his LinkedIn profile and records from the UK Financial Services Register.'

The second body on the balcony wasn't found for 8 hours after the first woman in the living room was found.

'Police were able to identify Sumarti Ningsih, 25, as one of the victims with the help of her cousin, who also lives in Hong Kong, the source said.
Ningsih entered Hong Kong from Indonesia on a tourist visa last month. The source said Ningsih had been arrested on suspicion of breaching her conditions of stay in the territory.
The cousin, who works as a domestic helper in Hong Kong, told officers that she knew the second victim. Aged between 25 and 30, the second victim apparently worked as a part-time disc jockey in a pub'

Remember this thread:
FL- Naked man killed by Police near MacArthur Causeway was ‘eating’ face off victim
http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...hur-Causeway-was-%91eating%92-face-off-victim
where police theorized the attacker might have been suffering from "cocaine psychosis".

I'll bet this guy tries to get off using the same explanation.

I remember that case. That guy really did seem nuts - he did that in full view of everyone.

But I'm thinking this guy might have trouble because it looks like one murder was committed days before the other, and it seems like he may have been going to work after the murders too. If his fellow workers didn't notice any psychosis, that's going to make it hard for him. (Note, it hasn't been established exaactly when he quit his job yet. Merill Lynch don't seem keen to talk).

Daily Mail doubles down:

more, with pictures, at link above

This is the automated reply he left on his email when he apparently resigned from his job recently:

An automated e-mail reply from the Bank of America Corp. (BAC) account of Rurik Jutting yesterday said he was out of the office “indefinitely” and recommended contacting someone who’s not “an insane psychopath.”

.......The automated reply also said: “For escalation please contact God, though suspect the devil will have custody. [Last line only really worked if I had followed through..]”

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-...ccount-automated-reply-says-he-s-insane-.html

That last line makes me think he planned what he did, rather than it being an impulsive, spur-of-the-moment thing
