Oxnard police are offering a $10,000 reward and are asking for the public's help in solving the killing of a developmentally disabled teen 12 years ago.

Fifteen-year-old Steven Miinster was shot to death outside his home on the night of Nov. 2, 2002. Investigators say Miinster was inside his home when he received a call from an unknown female who asked the victim to meet her outside.

Woman Seeks Answers 12 Years After Son’s Death (CBS Los Angeles)

On Nov. 2, 2002, police say, Steven Miinster received a call from an unknown female, who asked him to meet her outside \his house at B Street and Bryce Canyon Avenue in Oxnard.

Around 11 p.m., when he got around the corner, he was shot. Steven later died at a hospital.

“And I went out there. He was laying on the ground on the sidewalk fighting for his life that someone took,” his mother recounted.

Authorities are still searching for a motive and Steven’s killer. Police say the teen had a learning disability and was not associated with gangs.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Miinster was inside of his home shortly before his murder.

He reportedly received a telephone call from an unknown female that asked him to meet her outside.

Miinster left his home and walked a few feet around the corner where he was shot.

According to police, anonymous tips have lead officers to believe the suspect and circumstances behind the homicide is known.
