Police continue investigations into woman's death at Murwillumbah

Police have established a strike force as they continue investigations into the death of a woman at Murwillumbah on the state’s north coast yesterday.

About 9pm (Thursday 6 November 2014), police from Tweed/Byron Local Area Command were called to Church Lane where they found a 52-year-old woman deceased.

A crime scene was established and examined by police and special forensic officers.

Strike Force Nincoola, comprising detectives from Tweed/Byron Local Area Command with assistance of the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, was formed to investigate the woman’s death.

A post mortem examination is set to be conducted on Saturday (8 November 2014) at Newcastle in an attempt to determine the cause of her death.

Detectives are attempting to piece together the circumstances leading up to the woman’s death and are keen to speak to anyone who was near the vicinity of the Imperial Hotel on Main Street, Murwillumbah about 8pm last night (Thursday 6 November 2014).

They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the woman who is described as being about 163cm tall with a medium build, short sandy blond hair and wearing dark clothing and glasses.

Woman, 52, found dead in laneway behind popular northern NSW pub, The Imperial Hotel

A HOMICIDE investigation will focus on a popular Murwillumbah pub on the state’s north coast after a 52-year-old woman’s body was found in a lane on Thursday night.

Strike Force Nincoola has been established to piece together the moments leading up to the woman’s death on a street behind the local police station.

Police are focusing on her movements near the “vicinity of the Imperial Hotel” in the town’s main street about 8pm, an hour before she was found dead.

So it is homicide. Somebody has to know something, although many people close by did not.
 
No inquest needed on death of woman in lane: Coroner

The coroner's office released a statement to the Tweed Daily News declaring the cause of death did not warrant an inquest.

"The coroner is satisfied that the place, date and identity of the deceased and the manner and cause of death are sufficiently disclosed on the balance of probabilities," the assistant coroner wrote.
 
Ack, this one does not go down well with me.

RIP Lynette, you were obviously an asset to your community and it’s said you made a positive difference to many lives.
