Richmond County authorities believe they know what led to a Martinez womans brutal death in a strangers mobile home in Augusta on Monday...
Richmond County sheriffs Lt. Blaise Dresser said he could not comment on the details of the case, or explain why Newbegin was inside the mobile home to begin with. Park workers said the residents of the mobile home had been away for several days and that the electricity for the unit had been turned off.

A man behind bars in connection with a brutal murder was denied bond Friday in a Richmond County court. Kenneth Howard is charged with the Oct. 20 murder of 33-year-old Emily Newbegin...
Newbegin was found dead in a bathtub at 308 Carmell Place at Rocky Creek Mobile Home Park. A district attorney in the courtroom said Newbegin was found partially clothed with several stab wounds on her body and trauma to the head. Deputies said Howard admitted to getting into an argument with her and hitting Newbegin with a hatchet.
Howard's family apologized to Newbegin's husband in court.
