GUILTY ID - Jeffrey Dyer, 46, abducted & murdered, Nampa, 8 November 2014

According to police, two people entered a home on the 1100 block of W. Dakota Avenue, and after an altercation, took 46-year-old Jeffrey Dyer with them.

Officers believe Dyer was taken against his will.

Investigators say Dyer's car, a 1996 Cadillac Seville, is also missing. The license plate reads 2O 56263.

This all took place on the 1100 block of West Dakota Avenue. Investigators on scene were gathering evidence and talking to witnesses. Though they are releasing limited information on the investigation, what happened is brutal...

Neighbors say Dyer kept to himself and was caring for his elderly father.

Twenty-one-year-old Angelo Cervantes and 21-year-old Raul Herrera were arrested Wednesday after detectives served a search warrant on several houses and interviewed the men. They are each charged with murder, robbery, kidnapping and aggravated battery...

The men's faces were obscured during the kidnapping, and they took care not to leave prints inside the house. But they did leave behind one witness, police say: Dyer's father, who was home Nov. 8 and was badly beaten by the kidnappers...

Ramirez declined to say how the three men knew each other, stating only that they were well-aquainted. Likewise, he had little comment on a potential motive.

Herrera, of Nampa, is on trial this week for first-degree murder, robbery, burglary, kidnapping and aggravated battery.

In May, Cervantes, of Nampa, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, second-degree kidnapping and aggravated assault. He has not yet been sentenced.

Raul Herrera's defense attorney has filed a motion for an acquittal after his client was found guilty in July of first-degree murder...

No decision was made Monday on the motion for acquittal, and a court date was set for oral arguments by attorneys at 8:15 a.m. Jan. 13.

Raul Edgar Herrera openly wept in court Wednesday as he was sentenced to life in prison for beating Jeffrey Dyer to death over a $700 drug debt and for “being disrespectful.”

Former District Judge and current Supreme Court Appellate Judge Molly Huskey mandated Herrera, 22, be eligible for parole after 35 years are served.
