100-year-old Eleanor Cunningham of Howes Cave, New York, celebrated her birthday at the weekend - with a skydive. As you do. (Or in my case, don't. And never will).
She kissed her baby great-great grandaughter before she left the ground and landed safely (she took up the sport 10 years back so is experienced) and has bested former President George H.W. Bush, who celebrated one of his birthdays the same way. He was a mere youngster of 90 though. Makes me dizzy just to look at it. Dean McDonald was her high-flying partner up there.
I always recall that moment in a Superman movie where Lois Lane has fallen off a building and Superman catches her: 'You've got me,' she says, 'but who's got YOU!' That would be me, not trusting anything but solid earth under my feet.
Many happy returns amazing Eleanor Cunningham!
