Prada Marfa vandal who turned store into TOMS protest pleads guilty

A Texas artist has pleaded guilty to two counts of misdemeanor criminal mischief for vandalizing the famous Prada Marfa installation in Valentine.

Joe Magnano, a 32-year-old man using the pseudonym "927 1977," will pay Ballroom Marfa, which maintains the structure, $10,700 to restore the piece and a $1,000 fine.
Magnano admitted to spraying the building in March 2014 with blue paint, papering windows with the logo of the shoe company TOMS and posting a political manifesto on the installation bashing TOMS' behavior, according to Artnet.
